UAL New Pilot Bases
#33
I would like a base west of the Mississippi where I can buy a house, close enough to sit short call at home, on NB A or WB B pay (just 72 hours, I'm lazy) without eating ramen and not having to live in the hood.
Lived in Flint longer than anywhere else in my life, and I've gotten my hood time served.

I mean, technically MSP fits that…
Seriously though. Austin would be nice for many, but I just don’t see mother D doing it. Lots of overhead to open a base. Where else would you suggest? And for what purpose? Where is there a gap in our network that would require another pilot base? Everything in the center of the country is covered by MSP/ATL/SLC. AUS will get the RDU treatment for the foreseeable future. (I do feel for the former DFW guys)
Don’t give me the “recruiting” line. That always makes me chuckle.

Having wrote all that, I would suspect AUS is the next base after BOS. I do think a FL base is desperately needed.

if they can get a joint MCO/TPA I bet they would consider that one too.
MIA is a more high dollar market but MCO has the gates to expand with the new terminal being built.
I’m interested to see if they re open out TPA FA base soon.
