No l, but you perpetuate their false narrative that tactical sick calls could be a widespread problem that justifies stupid policy.

I'd of course got get a doctor's note because (a) I was sick and that's the policy and (b) they are paying for it for a GFB, so what's the big deal?

I would just point out that if they are calling just because I sicked out of a reserve trip, what else am I supposed to do, fly sick? I'm on reserve... of course if I sick out on a trip, it's going to be a reserve trip. When they assign trips sometimes 36 hours or 48 hours ahead of time (regular or MED trip), it's going to happen.

Definitely a double standard, since a every time a REG pilot sicks out they're sicking out of a trip (other than CQ). If a reserve pilot wakes up the morning of a trip feeling crappy they get extra scrutiny for calling off, while a line holder calling off at the exact same time doesn't get a second thought.

You’ve perfectly illuminated why their boiler plate GFB trigger has been clearly anything but “good faith”. Big deal? Not really. Unnecessary irritant consuming hours of my personal time for no additional compensation and a waste of Delta/CPO/ health care resources? Absolutely.

Exactly. Explaining to a doctor/nurse why I need a note when I'm trusted to a multi-million dollar airplanes with lots of people on it is... irritating.

A good friend hadn't used more than 50 hours in any of the last 2 years. Then in a vacation month, he had 9 days off after vacation until he started his next trip. Wakes up on day 1 with a cold and calls in sick...gets a good faith call. This was not NYC, but pretty jacked up.

I’ve always wondered why it’s called “Good Faith”

Does the good faith rest with the company, as in “I believe you’re sick, but this is a random check, so prove it.”

Or does the good faith refer to the pilot as in, “I know you trust me but I have faith that you are inquiring because you have to randomly exercise due diligence”.

Did he refer them to the PWA? Last time I looked they can’t do that.

If they did that to me I would def start using more sick leave.
