Default Widget Wx Looping Radar

About effing time! It is inexcusable they rolled out free internet in the back for all, but no soup for us!

From DeltaNet:
  • Widget Wx Loop Radar: This long-requested feature is in the final stages of development and will launch on April 4.

Gogo can't handle the looping radar. Too much data and not enough bandwidth. I'm one of the beta testers and they told us that it will be automatically disabled on aircraft that still have the old wifi system.

Very cool that we are heading in the right direction with the looping radar at least! It is funny though that people think airliners will be pilot-less in a few decades yet we can’t even get our wifi to connect automatically anymore. With how slowly technology progresses in the airline industry it’ll be 300-500 years before we ever see pilot-less airliners in my opinion and I am completely okay with that!

I genuinely don't get that. How is adding 4-5 extra radar pictures a couple times an hour too much data? Genuine question. At least put a few vector sticks on the major cells, that would be virtually zero extra bandwidth.

Thankfully, I'm on a fleet that has (almost all, I think) Viasat. Not that I can ever connect to it without a fight...

The do have vector sticks on blue convective "SIGMET" boxes.

The winglets boost the signal reception to avoid the intermittent deferrals.

Agreed, a windy like display would be awesome. I almost exclusively use the windy app for my GA flying and use it quite a bit in airline/mil flying. One of the best products I've seen for weather. It would be great to see Delta adopt this display into our products.
