Facial Hair Accomodations

Actually go read. The poster made a comment about there being no medical reason. A lot of us brought up a medical reason and a major organization that has a policy about it.
But in the terms of the OP, you’re right, the AF has nothing to do with it.

I think UPS (maybe ATI) as well, but what their airline allows is irrelevant. I once had a captain turn away an FAA inspector, who was trying to JS, because he had a beard.
I mean, if you're not shaven, he's probably going to win that one with the CPO. Seems like such a ridiculous thing to take a stand on really. This job isn't that hard, some just love to make it much more difficult than it needs to be. Start a campaign to get the rule change if you need a beard to feel good about yourself, but until then, you knew what you were getting into when hired.

So you already know what the manual says and you don’t want our opinions, in fact “spare me?” You’re a natural Delta captain . Would you like your blazer single or double breasted?
Seriously dude, an ounce of humility and all that…. But to answer your question, my personal data point is not one bearded pilot in my decade here and no anecdotes of one either. However, if you can get our manual changed to allow beards you’ll never have to buy a drink here and I’ll buy the first round.

Not to hijack the thread here, but has anyone had laser hair removal on their neck? Or know anyone who has? I try my best to use good shaving practices but the combination of having to shave every other day and wearing a collar for this job leaves my neck constantly red and irritated. Nothing I've tried has worked to stop the irritation I might just have sensitive skin. My theory is if I don't have to consistently shave my neck after laser hair removal, the bumps and irritation will go away.
mangled his face with a dull razor morning of a derm appointment two times in a row and got referred to permanent hair removal courtesy of his insurance.
