Hey Neidermeyer, are you the bastard child of the RD LCA that came to MSP when the 88 came to MSP? This yahoo was going around the terminal walking up to pilots demanding they put their hats on. He was told to F off so many times the base chief pilot had to call the 88 Chief line check pilot and tell him to reign this idiot in or he will be kicked out of the base.

So, appreciate it if you don’t put me in the position of telling you how you need to dress. No need for no fly list. Just do your job that you’re getting paid well into the six figures to do and we will get along great.

There will also be a transition period. For months we will see both old and new. We will go from iconic to "who do you fly for?" This will get interesting on the 3 man crews. Individuality rules. I'd carry all 3 just to be the counterculture representative.

Will captains be issued a uniform card that has all the acceptable variants? If i'm going to enforce this I need to know what combinations are acceptable? BTW are pink T shirts and jeans limited to certain days like weekends? Enforcement must be uniform!

Funny because I often get "are you a policeman" questions even with our current uniform.

I’ve only had that one while wearing the hat. As soon as I stopped wearing the hat, problem solved.

I have seen this combo out in the wild. I can assure you that there is something that makes it seem phenomenally wrong.

I've had passengers think I'm a skycap and try to check their bags with me outside the terminal when I'm waiting for the hotel van. So much for "iconic".

I keep thinking back to an old terrorism awareness video where we were told you could spot them by ethnicity and uniform inconsistency. Two men of middle eastern descent strolling through the airport, one wearing a single breasted jacket and one wearing a double. One was wearing raybans inside and one wasn't. Oh the laughs we enjoyed. My best friend at a regional, crashpad roommate and new hire training counterpart was persian born in Iran. His family fled when the Shah was overthrown. Probably the most westernized pro-american family and all became naturalized U.S. citizens. He watched the film with me and had great commentary. The first was that anyone who seriously meant harm wouldn't make such an amature mistake. (they would study the situation for a long time) Just letting everyone know how "profesional" we will look.

That entire video's premise is completely absurd. Especially now when it takes 3-5 ID checks to get to an airplane. And what are you going to do if you see someone not in a uniform you recognize? Are you calling the anti-terror police? You know how many fractional pilots fly our airplanes in full uniform that I don't recognize?

In the terminal, I completely agree with you (unless all uniform/identifiable items, including the tie, are hidden).

On a walk around, out of sight of everyone who can tell who you are, I’ll keep it clean and say you can keep your opinion to yourself. I truly don’t understand your odd obsession with that. But I always fly with my favorite captain, so…
