What is it with you guys? I see this stuff on other forums too. It's like you're hoping for WW3 and the industry to crash just to stick it to "junior" or something.

It must be hard to go through life so angry all the time at things you can't control.

Just crunched the numbers on what was said today. 10% profit increase on Q4 vs last year plus YTD pool is $1.383B. That seems like a realistic pool guess to me. $1.5B could happen but would require an exceptional quarter not forecasted. On the flip side a flat YOY would be (272 + 1084) $1.356B. A break even quarter would add 0, and a 50% miss on guidance would only add $150M. So my range for full year pool is $1.35-1.4B.

I see the PS line under Operating Expenses for the 2022 and 2023 quarters and YTD, so I'm good to go there.

So my question is about the eligible payroll denominator...is that "Salaries and related costs" ? Are the related costs part of that included in the denominator or just the salary part, and if so, where is just the salary broken out?
The break out is not stated. That number comes from the yearend management cost number. The 10K doesn't have this number but it is provided by management and vetted by ALPA during the audit. The 10K reporting doesn't require specific costs/revenue breakdown disclosure. They often have vague definitions like "other revenue." The "Salaries and related costs" YTD is $10.838B and extrapolated would be ~14.5B which is high, the payroll is less, ~$10B is my guess. A lot is 401k contributions and other costs (per diem etc.) New employees lower pay will somewhat offset having more employees.

PWA:
"Individual employee’s annual compensation in the year in which the PTIX was earned as a percentage of total annual compensation for that year for all employees eligible for (a) the Delta Air Lines, Inc. Annual Profit Sharing Plan, or (b) the Delta Air Lines, Inc. Annual Profit Sharing Plan for Ground and Flight Attendant Employees. The Association will have the right to review the methodology and calculation of awards prior to such awards."

There is nothing in the SEC filings that corresponds to the wage base. The best way to find it is to use the PS pool and published percentage from previous years to back into it. But also be aware that the published numbers for what the company is setting aside for "profit sharing" is the total cost, not the pool. The total cost also includes retirement contributions and other associated expenses.

The pilots are the only group that get 401k contributions on top of PS%. It's almost negligible. The payroll is ~25% of total costs and pilots make up ~40% of that number. A very rough guess would be $1.3B divided by $10B = 13%.

I’m pretty sure other employees got it too, it’s just not 17% like ours (3% DC + 6% match)

I guess pilots only have a memory that goes back two years. This counting our chickens before they hatch is terrible for karma. Am I the only one here that has been a pilot for longer than 3 years? Does anybody follow world events?

What are you talking about? Weird take that someone concerned about multiple regional wars turning into a global conflict is about sticking it to someone. It is more about having realistic expectations for the world we live in.
