Saw my MBCBP value today. Here's how: Netbenefits Home page-> Plan & Learn (drop down menu)-> Manage overall finances-> Net worth view details. It was in the list of Fidelity Investments.

Anyone underwhelmed by Fidelity’s first statement for the MBCBP? I have one figure listed with no context of what it is, the company’s payment, or what investment vehicle/ROR. Am I missing something on visibility of the account?

As far as I can tell you are missing nothing. It is just a statement of your balance and nothing else--no record of contributions made, investments selected, allocation of assets etc. I suppose I can live with that, but there's a whole lot of "trust" involved.

I cannot understand why these contributions don't show up on our paystub. No explanation has been given.

Because it's technically considered a pension and pension fund contributions never showed up on paystubs either I don't think.

Well, there's one explanation.

I'm sure someone with a tiny bit of intelligence and IT experience could figure out how to display it on our paystubs though. But MBCBP is technically a defined benefit plan not a defined contribution plan so it's a pension technically. Everyone's funds are all mixed together and you are just shown your "cash balance" which is pretty opaque. Partly why I opted out.

I’m starting to wonder if I should have opted out. The whole thing seems really shady. Also, the word “pension” scares me.
