and all can come undone with some crappy bidding between breakfast and van time ...

in related news, A's are out & I'm off to try to feed pool balls into a tennis ball launcher while I stand in front of it.

When I was RJ trash I flew with the #1 CA in my base. Came to find out dude lived in another domicile. He chose to commute to fly stand-ups because he would "only be #2 in base" and the #1 guy took the exact specific schedule he wanted. So he flew 4 stand-ups a week and would his entire day awkwardly walking around the airport just killing time between 7am when he landed, and around 2100 when he'd report for his next leg.

Me: ok, you really can't just fly any other trip on the entire entire base bid package?

Him: NO, I WANT THAT ONE TRIP AND THATS IT

Personally I look at how many years I'll be top 50% and measure muy fortune based on the ratio of top 50 vs bottom 50. Obviously that's just as arbitrary.
agreed. It’s different for everyone. I got hired at 31 in 2018. Found myself in what “would” be my forever seat (ER A) about 10 years before I realistically expected to be. If the plane wasn’t going away I wouldn’t move for the next 30. Perma bidding reserve (I like our rules especially as a non-commuter) at 80% in the junior base leaves me very little to complain about. As I get more seniority on reserve it isn’t really going to change my lifestyle. I’m happy.

To be honest though, we’re ALL extremely lucky in the grand scheme of things to be where we are, whether you’re at Delta for 4 years or 40 years.

If that was the guy's only fault, he was pretty well adjusted in the big scheme of things. I saw people doing standups who were zombies most of the time.

the #1 FA at American won’t retire unless the #2 FA retires. #1 dislikes her so much that she doesn’t want to see #2 become #1 in seniority… this is just human nature, we all crazy

Woof, my Feb sched is nothing close to what I bid. We must have been on that same van ride.

I believe it lol. Perhaps she wants her AA seniority number written on her tombstone too?

So flying an "RJ" makes one trash ? Is a pilot on a 737 trash compared to an A330 driver ? Are all 2 engine jet pilots trash compared to the 3 engine drivers on the 727,1011,DC10 and 747 from the past ? I guess pretty much all pilots are trash then compared to the Concorde , cause that's as bad ass a commercial jet that one could fly .
