All I’m doing is putting real numbers to your statement. I don’t think anyone at DL will get 20+ years as an area code like you originally stated. Even 15 years is not realistic for anyone hired after 2015. All I’m doing is putting some real numbers from the seniority list to your statement.
Neither. It is what it is.

He has admitted he was lucky and his timing and health have worked out for him. Jeebus, cut some slack dude. He's a real good guy, an excellent Captain. You'd like flying with him.

Except that he likes twin hulled sailboats.

Yeah, always questioned that. I'm partial to big block ski boats myself. Moar power and all that....

I'm just gonna say that something with a "steep learning curve" means you have to learn a lot in a short amount of time, thus it is more difficult. A shallow learning curve has less to learn in the same amount of time, thus easier. That's how it's always been.

Carry on.

However, “pay it forward” has a sort of altruistic connotation. More than just returning the favor to someone new. It’s a form of selflessness, which I don’t think could be inferred by returning a favor, whether to someone new or not.
Well, I guess that’s true. The movie with Haley Joel Osmont (Sixth Sense “I see dead people) was basically my first hearing of the phrase. B/L though, my understanding of “Pay it forward” is what Captains who buy beers/meals are doing.

Exactly. Said it better than I did.

Here’s your first statement. Now you say there’s 37 that’ll be area codes for 15+ years. I’m not the one moving my numbers.

this is indeed the colloquialism, but it’s counter to the original concept.

language is funny like that, and I’ll rage into the void about it until I die.

Its an estimation from what I've looked at recently. I'm on my phone so its kinda a PITA to jump around with it. I'm not as proficient with the tech as most of you are.

So just say that instead of quadrupling down on everything.
I’m not saying that it isn’t awesome movement and great timing. I’ll never be there, and I know and ok with that. You said it’s all about timing. Don’t hate on people because they might have hit the timing better than you. I don’t.
