48 Hours Off Prior to Primary Vacation
Does anyone have any clue as to how this will work? Since it’s part of primary vacation bidding does it create unpaid pseudo vacation days that become attached to the block? It’s pretty common for pilots to bid reserve during a vacation month, so does this 48 hour period become X-days that are permanently attached to the vacation block or are they unpaid days?

That's exactly how the PTP 2 days off prior to training work. All it is is a way to guarantee those days off instead of hoping you can bid them off. Either way they are days off which are always unpaid. If you're junior and wanting to fly out somewhere on your first day of vacation it is a nice way to ensure that you won't get stuck with a trip that ends at 2345 the night before your vacation.

Again this is all surround PTP prior to training. I see no reason why the 2 days off prior to vacation would be treated any differently.

You couldn't guarantee your first vacation day off at that effectively shortened your vacation. So now you can guarantee those two days off and are immune from coverage but isn't increasing your vacation allotment
