Correction, it's up over 17% YTD. Good chance you will be in a lower tax bracket when you retire so the whole point it to defer the taxes until then. The youngsters might have better argument to pay the tax now and back door roth it but I only have 15 years left so the math doesn't work for me.

I agree and am also in the MBCBP - I was just pointing out that it is not tax free, just tax deferred.
