I suspect it will be much easier going forward for those new to Airbus because it will be aligned with the rest of the fleets and very easy for 320/330 pilots going to the Trash Panda. 😁
Oh good, now are they going to allow you to put the FMS on the center screen, you know, like every other airplane in the fleet? The old program manager told me the reason they made you put the charts on the center screen was to make it easier for the SIM INSTRUCTOR to see what you were briefing!

I countered with, "You're telling me we're operating this thing in the real world in a F'd up screen configuration just to make it easier on the Sim Instructors??! YGTBSM!"

He's been retired awhile so maybe the 'new guy' is going to make it operate like Airbus designed it?! What a concept!

As long as we're in why mode:

In 330 land they tell us the trend is to go paperless. But if there's an ECAM what do we do? Grab a pen and paper and write it down. Monitor fuel? Write down each individual tank quantity. Why not just take a picture with your iPad? Because a Fed went crazy: The iPad becomes a PED the moment you use it in a non approved way. So no flashlight, no calculator ...

Never underestimate the ability of the FAA to make a mountain of a molehill and completely hinder any kinds of progress. Remember when we couldn't have moving map because a FED said we'd use as a means to navigate? Where does the FAA get these people?

The FOM does permit PEDs to be used if an operational need exists. Taking an ECAM pic seems to be an operational need to me. 😁 If only "that" Fed agreed.

I know of one that was fired from a regional for FMLA/sick time abuse. He was a piece of work.

Verboten in the sims.

Now, in the real jet in an emergency situation: Captain's Authority.

Getting back on thread topic; AUS high winds, Endeavor was at it again last night, this time at LGA:

A Delta Air Lines plane struck its wing on the runway while landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Sunday night, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA confirmed to Fox News Digital that the incident happened just after 10 p.m. on a flight travelingfrom Jacksonville, Florida, to LaGuardia.

"The left-wing of Endeavor Air Flight 4814 struck the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York while the pilot was executing a go-around due to an unstable approach," a spokesperson for the agency shared in a statement.

At least they landed right side up this time!

I wonder how often this has happened in the past and are we just hearing about it now because of the crashes? On a Delta fb group, a former DAL mechanic/current DAL pilot said that 88s and 90s used to come in a fair amount for wingtip strikes on landing.

Why was his takeover of the controls broadcast? That seems to be an odd moment to press the PTT switch.
