Quote: You are WRONG. The first article clearly stated she was female. With the said, who cares if she was female or male? Alcohol issues can affect either.

I'm sorry. I don't speak swedish...the original source article. But you are correct, it doesn't matter. And especially in this case where it was a false positive

The only info I've seen was "positive" at the airport and "within limits" at the station.

Quote: Thank you for the Dean Martin/Foster Brooks memory lane bit.
Dean Martin could be exhibit A on society's change in attitude towards drinking. (and smoking for that matter).

In the 80's, I was going through new hire ground school at an airline that hosted "beer call" on Friday nights at a bar near the airport for us newbies. A few line pilots would drop by to hoist one with us.
My opinion of the practice is neutral, but can you imagine any airline doing so today?

The times changed in more ways than Dylan anticipated.
Yes, customs & traditions shift. Vice, not so much. Irrelevant to the topic but Dean Martin jr. was an Air Guard F4 jock and ranked tennis pro. Lost his life as result of CFIT error.

If you can’t complete a dry 3 day without constantly thinking about it, marking no dependence is a grey Class 1 application.

Killed himself and his backseater. I think about that one every time we come over PSP into the Valley. There’s lots of aluminum on those hills.

This piqued my interest. I'd never heard about it.

Worth a ChatGPT/Grok/Whatev summary for those interested in avoidable CFIT accidents.

Sobering. (In a non alcoholic sort of way)

I learned a lot from the old guys. Now it seems like people just roll their eyes and want them out of their seat.

Quote: No one has published that she was a female. The only people who know are the ones that looked up see who it was. It's completely irrelevant what gender the person is. But clearly an ax to grind against women in aviation

Quite a few outlets published the pilots' gender, even my card-nerd site where I first saw the sad news.

Would gladly write the editors if I can find a link to the news that this was a "false positive." Welcome the good news that one of our own is OK.

I’m an old guy these days too. Fortunate enough to vacate the seat just short of 60. By choice. Substance dependency through nearly all of it. Definitely helps you learn the art of deception. Nowhere more than fooling yourself.

All of the news sites scooped the Swedish site. But yes, a lot has changed since I made that post and ONLY the Swedish site and here had discussed it.
