Thank you for the Dean Martin/Foster Brooks memory lane bit.
Dean Martin could be exhibit A on society's change in attitude towards drinking. (and smoking for that matter).

In the 80's, I was going through new hire ground school at an airline that hosted "beer call" on Friday nights at a bar near the airport for us newbies. A few line pilots would drop by to hoist one with us.
My opinion of the practice is neutral, but can you imagine any airline doing so today?

The times changed in more ways than Dylan anticipated.

Wait til you hear what happens at SWA indoc

Shoot, my airline has a bar in the training center... technically the training hotel that's attached to the training center. But still!
Even challenged the now CEO to a game of shuffle board while living it up over there.

Can one’s spouse stay there yet? Always thought that was bonkers as a prohibition.

Excellent. Now take nine steps, heel-to-toe, along a straight line, turn on one foot and return nine steps in the opposite direction. A subject may be impaired if they:
  • Begin before the instructions are finished
  • Cannot keep balance while listening to the instructions
  • Do not touch heel-to-toe
  • Lose balance while turning
  • Stop while walking to regain balance
  • Take an incorrect number of steps
  • Use arms to balance

Upon completion of these feats, a poorly-compensated and likely minimally educated person will then make a completely subjective judgment as to your success or failure. Additionally, deeming it successful will be an indictment of this person's initial judgment and skill which they will be loathe to do. In the meantime, one can smell the weed contrails coming from the passing vehicles.

What a system.

It is possible to fail a breathalyzer test while on the keto diet due to the presence of ketones in the breath, which can be misidentified as alcohol.

Yes, customs & traditions shift. Vice, not so much. Irrelevant to the topic but Dean Martin jr. was an Air Guard F4 jock and ranked tennis pro. Lost his life as result of CFIT error.

If you can’t complete a dry 3 day without constantly thinking about it, marking no dependence is a grey Class 1 application.

Dean Martin was a light drinker until his son’s death. It was a part of his act but he drank little socially. That changed after the accident.

Well then skipper, you do in fact acknowledge recognizing the distinctive aroma of skunk weed:)

When the blue lights hit you, so does the camcorder. Follow commands carefully and slowly. Slow is your new best friend. If exercising Miranda seems the best option, request counsel from a qualified attorney before answering any questions or performing any tests. Perfectly legit.

Definitely had the act down pat.

Every caring father’s nightmare. 1/3 of all traffic accidents and somewhere north of 13k motor vehicle fatalities are now determined alcohol related each year. Clogs the courts, fills jail bunks and generates $123b in financial losses. Nearly funny as slipping on human remains.
