Default Bypassing GS going straight to IA

How many of you have been on hold trying to get the IA call, but CS won't pick up? This seems to be the norm now. Free for all, luck over senority.

I'm also wondering how this happens.

What I've been doing: pick up a call, wait till I hear the words "green slip" or "Inverse assignment". The INSTANT I hear "Inverse assignment" I hangup the robo call. I call scheduling, sit on hold for twenty minutes, and when I finally get someone on the phone it's already gone.
I saw people in another thread say it can go IA an hour before they send out the robo calls and now I'm even more confused.

I have a deep suspicion of people seeing a trip in OT, calling CS and being like “send that out as an IA I’ll be there in 15”. Is there any way for ALPA to audit CS phone records to find out? Guys should not be making deals at this point, especially with the amount of comms ALPA has sent out about it.

The deal making is completely unacceptable and it is happening far too often.

The type of people that make these deals have zero concern with the comms ALPA sends about it.

This free for all really needs to stop.

I think it’s more like, “are you planning on sending this trip out for inverse assignement? If so I’d like to throw my name in the hat.” Scheduling: “It’s yours. Congrats.” This rewards bad behavior so said pilot does it again and again.

We have to change something. It is negatively affecting too many pilots. The ones not in the top 5 in the category getting 23.M.7 and also not getting GS’s anymore or IA’s because they are honest.

There is zero disincentivize from scheduling or the pilot doing this. It is rewarding bad behavior by the pilot and relieving stress from scheduling and punishes pilots who would have otherwise flown that trip as a GS

As a much younger new hire, in 1997, I remember reading a Flight Ops comm piece, in which one of the 4th floor bigwigs, stated--in bold print--"we will cancel a flight before we knowingly violate the contract."

That may have been corporate spin, but it was said. I can't conceive of that now. Some legal jousting from ALPA--beyond "strongly worded emails"--might be appropriate.

There's probably a strong overlap with those who would cross a picket line and those who call and make deals.
