We'll never see a 788 here. Who even orders or buys those anymore?

I won't be the one to say, "I told you so." But let me ask you: If Boeing or another airline approached Delta with a good deal on 20 to 30 787s that they need to offload, do you really believe Delta would turn it down?

The biggest hold up right now is getting the program up and running. If you know any ATL 7ER leads, ask them what they have heard or who will be in the initial cadre on the 787, then ask if they have a training date yet.

The biggest issue we are running into is Performance. The 350 isn't performing the way they wanted it to out of SLC.

Why would Boeing need to offload jets that no one is even ordering? The 788 "looks" like a perfect 763ER replacement but it's not.

And years ago it couldn't do LAX-SYD the way they wanted it to. Other airlines fly heavies out of hot and high airports all the time. It seems like we're the only airline that takes an aircraft that seems to work wonders for everyone else and conclude that it "doesnt do what we want or thought it would."

Does United still have a 45 350s on order? What are the chances DL and UA swap orders?

There doesn’t seem to be any business case to bring the 787 to Delta, especially with the training flexibility Delta has between the 320/330/350 families. Not to mention Mx, overhead, etc, etc.

I think that United order has effectively been canceled. But Delta specifically wants the 787-10 and United wants all 500 (sarcasm) 787s it ordered so I don't think any kind of trade is plausible. I also don't think DL would ever have made the order with Boeing if they saw no benefit, especially if we can't even get the first one until 2031.

United removed the A-350 from its SEC 10-K filing a few months ago.

350 or 330? I thought 350 was doing pretty well out of SLC and it was the 330 that had more challenges.
