This matches what I've heard from reliable sources. Expect an announcement about the DTW717 base closing sometime in Q3 next year, followed by all the flights transferring to ATL. Apparently, they will operate in ATL until 28 and then gradually phase out, being gone by 30.
They'll spend longer than that ensh1tifying the DTW flying to force as many guys off as possible before MDs.

Ya the writing seems to be very on the wall with the lack of backfills on the A side the last few AEs. I suppose this AE will be telling.

Lol ya, kinda like they did to ATL 88 near the end. I remember one month they only build 4 days with all 3 and 4 leg days. Someone screwed up and set the ALV such that 3 x 4 days was below the LCW but 4 was above it. Blank lines for all my friends.

are they going to replace the dtw 717 with a dtw 220 eventually as well and then atl 220?

Unsure, I could see 220s eventually in all bases if they and Canabus can get on the same page, along with PW support. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Baby Max order potentially if they get the MAX7 figured out. If there was something to replace the 717, I think it would already be here. The amount of heavy MX issues we are having is going to drive the fleet away sooner rather than later.

Oh, I fully expect BOS 320 is coming in the relatively near future. Just a matter of when.

LOL, they aren't always the smartest in the room... But it's a reminder for those who want to ride the displacement train all the way into the station. It's not all unicorns and rainbows. Yes, you can go 'anywhere you can hold' without a seat lock, and maybe get a paid move, but the last year getting there can be really painful bid packets and QOL. Not worth it for most folks, IMO.

Not sure what the current talk on the fleet is, but not all that long ago, the word was ATL was the very last place the 220 would go, if ever.

Any current intel from those in the know?

It's really not that bad if you bid RES. If you're holding out for the move VD gets you out before Jr.

An FO was asking me about this very thing recently. He was wondering if its good or bad to hang on. I said it depends on how they do it, it could be really good or really bad.

What I fear, is steadily getting more and more junior and getting stuck with no openings where I want to go. I really don't want to get slammed with a summer/fall training date.

If your category is going away, don't you have to ability to displaced someone?
