Seeing more fuming issues on NEO regarding the fan bearing seal. I wouldn't crow too much about this.
And again, I'll reiterate, bidding a fleet here at DAL for the trips is not a smart strategy (speaking to NB fleets). Best seniority you can get should always be your first criteria.

Separate note, seems like they’re not backfilling msp320 a/b as much, and I assume because of the 220 starting. Fair to assume the 220 is going to be where most growth is with maybe even eating a little of the 320? Obviously DTW/ATL being where the 320 growth was on the AE. Couple of buddies saying it’s gridlocked on the bus once moving up the seniority list a little.

Third hand info: I flew with someone that asked that question as they had heard that MSP 320 was shrinking. That has been evident in last few AEs as you can see by no backfills recently. They were told no backfills till late summer/fall. So for now MSP continues to shrink as we put all our eggs into the ATL basket.
I don't think it's just ATL, DTW320 seems to be growing.

I believe NY flies a majority of our Caribbean overnights, while ATL does mostly turns. I'd rather do overnights to the Caribbean, as most of us probably would; therein lies the flex.

Correct, and thanks for supporting my statement. That's why one should put seniority first criteria over trips when bidding fleets on the NB side. They move them around fleets all the time. I've been in on the sausage making, I know what I'm talking about.

I’m 157xx seniority (ATL 7ER) and my last 2 trips in January were a 2 day SXM and a 2 day UVF (which isn’t even a destination from NY). Granted, I picked them both up off the swap board, but my point still stands. 1st trip in Feb was a long SJU as well.

The only Caribbean layover NYC does on the 7ER that I’m aware of is SXM and maybe SJU?

Im starting to wonder if the plan moving forward will be to originate NYC flights from DTW/ATL so as to avoid growing the NYC base. Starting/ending rotations in DTW that flow through NY adds THAT much more utilization to the fleet/pilots. More pilots in NYC = more people using state leave, more people you can’t send sick letters to, NEPP users, paid parking users (which I’ve heard is astronomical), etc etc…. I mean if the last 2 AEs haven’t supported that…. Idk what will? They aren’t going to pump DTW with Neos. We have too much power in that market to care about margins. And where else are we going to grow in DTW? Sounds like a shift in flying rather than growth.
I would happily be wrong!

I was referring to the 320 fleet specifically. AUA, MBJ, SJU, PUJ, etc…. All 2 day 24 hour layovers.

It's funny how Delta tried saving on NYC layover costs by increasing staffing and now they are worried about costs of having NYC based employees. 5 years from now a middle manager will get a promotion for increasing NYC staffing to reduce reliance on other bases and save on layover costs.
