Im starting to wonder if the plan moving forward will be to originate NYC flights from DTW/ATL so as to avoid growing the NYC base. Starting/ending rotations in DTW that flow through NY adds THAT much more utilization to the fleet/pilots. More pilots in NYC = more people using state leave, more people you can’t send sick letters to, NEPP users, paid parking users (which I’ve heard is astronomical), etc etc…. I mean if the last 2 AEs haven’t supported that…. Idk what will? They aren’t going to pump DTW with Neos. We have too much power in that market to care about margins. And where else are we going to grow in DTW? Sounds like a shift in flying rather than growth.

I would happily be wrong!
New York is a huge market for us. How we feed it is a network planning issue. Also has the highest percentage of commuters. New York state employment rights are not a concern. If they were then we'd be doing the same things in MSP and LAX and SEA.

The NEOs are fuming and we are far from a solution in that jet. Looks to be front fan seals. If this continues you're going to see some shuffling of that carribean flying. We can't afford to keep doing in flight returns from those island destinations. I will tell you there are going to be changes to that flying on that fleet until we get a solution from PW.

When new terminal 1 opens up at JFK we're getting most of the A gates in T4 as well. That was the deal when we lost T2.

We're not pulling back from the New York metro area.

By most do you mean all but some shared with AF/KLM etc or non skyteam members too?

I have the solution for the fumes. Start descent early, keep power on the engines as much as posible.

Maybe do FPA or VS until lower altitude, then you can go idle. But that’s just my technique and haven’t had any issues so far.

The A380 gates. I need to check to see if there's some in the new T1 that can accommodate the A380s there from Emirates. Other than that what I've seen is we get all the A gates once the T1 is operational.

The issues are being seen after takeoff predominantly.

It's an issue and it's something FAA is looking at as well. Probably more to follow on this

I’ve seen most fumes in descent, than TakeOff. But good to know…

Great info! That would makes sense, NYC being a NEO heavy base.

The 73 stuff in ATL versus NYC, consider MAX will be in ATL most likely first, so I'm hearing that they are plusing up there and will fill in as MAX deliveries increase at the 73 bases. But those are just things I've heard from sources. Also hearing we will exercise options on the MAX.

Don't know if Gen Lee has posted yet but hearing more 220s as well.
