JE will replace him, he's no GH though. Really sad to see him go. This is going to have an strategic impact on us and not in a good way.

Have you seen JE's plan? Is it some giant departure from the plan today?

GH really turned this place around. I was hoping he’d get the nod for the big office. Oh well, I’m gone in a little less than a year and a half, for the rest of you

JEs plan will be EB's plan, not GHs.

That's the issue. GH had full operational authority and free reign to do what he does. JE will be under EBs thumb. GH knew the landscape better than anyone.

GH was the engine that drove and pulled this airline to where we are at today.

I echo boatbuilders post. I'm gone soon. Good luck 🤞

Prediction: AUS pilot base announcement on 2/14/26.

Having some experience in a corner office, there are situations when diverging opinions about strategy means that it’s time for some members of the team to move on to something else, usually on their own volition. Ask me how I know.

Southwest sure looked flashy announcing their new AUS pilot base with the governor there and all the hype, didn’t they? (I also think SWA is about to go full legacy with a WB order and that’s the real impetus behind their pilot base).

Pilot / FA bases are basically invisible to the public. Delta already announced an FA base in AUS with zero fanfare. Management (even without GH) has no interest in making pilot basing decisions based on making a 10-minute splash on a public stage.

Prediction: Still no AUS pilot base in 2031.

Great, at least another half decade of the blue eyed non-blinker.

New bases… seriously? It’ll be monthly CNBC interviews about “joint ventures” and branding while our “fortress hub” oscillates between controlled chaos and weekly IROPS due to passing fronts.

Thankful to be out west, isolated from the brick buildings and dark triad types. In the back of my mind I’m fully aware that this part of the ship is attached to that part and a ship’s natural resting position is on the bottom.

some sarcasm, some not.

what are the odds we will see a350s at jfk irrespective of whether jfk-icn launches under JE/EBs plan?

Worked somewhat closely with both GH and JE for a good amount of time. I personally like both, and professionally feel they are both top notch. I like our chances. For the past several years they had been focusing on making our domestic network strong, and must have dramatically succeeded as I haven't heard a bunch of griping about RJs continuing their takeover. They have now publicly stated a shift in the strength of focus on international. Having had the opening to see the way they think, I am intrigued to see what the next 5 years brings on the global front, especially with protections of global scope in pace. Sorry for the optimism. Feel free to go back to arguing about walk arounds -- sorry for the drive by.

This was exactly the sentiments in 2001 when UAL had something like 75 777's on order and we had 3. A few years later UAL was beating everybody to BK court. UAL has always seem to have been the boom/bust airline leader.

Probably not likely although I would like it as well. The only plausible routes it would be needed for are ICN and/or BOM/DEL. We "handed" HND to AA. Russian airspace takes a lot of other Asian destinations off the table. I hope to see it at some point in my career, but if they cant even figure out opening a 320 base in BOS, I dont think NYC 350 is happening near term.
