My theory is pilots are calling scheduling and just asking if trip is in IA yet thus jumping the call. Waiting for the call is too late. I’m sure some pilots are getting crappy trips that no one wants but I’m convinced this is what is going on. It’s probably even worse than this for some pilots, but I try to give our group the benefit of the doubt.
Just because you have been here longer doesn’t mean you know the PWA better. You clearly need to read up on section 23 instead of trying to erode the contract and make side deals like a [mod edit]

and then it locks up the seniors schedules so they can complain about not getting an IA

I always scratch my head at this type of dismissive response. The main purpose of APC is to share information.

I thought the main purpose was to whine and complain.

telling someone to read section 23 about IA’s when they are complaining about not getting called for any, is dismissive? Yet, he’s trying to tote he knows the PWA better because they’ve been here WAY longer? I think the last example is more dismissive. Especially when they’re saying they’re going to go make side deals, which ALPA is against and every pilot should be. I don’t show empathy for greedy [mod edit] behavior

The contract means nothing in regards to trip coverage. I’m not the problem. I am one of thousands of pilots who took about a $10,000 per month paycut so junior pilots can enjoy IA’s while screaming they are entitled to them since they are junior. I know the history of the PWA and jumping trip coverage steps under 23.M.7 was never meant to be a primary way of covering trips. I believe ALPA dropped the ball big time on this. They negotiated batch sizes away to try and stop it. Never saw what was coming.

I don’t appreciate you inferring I am engaging in scab like behavior given the fact that I have never made any deals. It 100 percent is happening and I’m beginning to think that over 90 percent of the IA’s in my caregory are side deals. I think there’s so many pilots involved that it’s unfixable.

I also believe with this first come, first serve approach, pilots aren’t willing to take a $10k per month hit if they can help it.

May you be junior for decades…,,[mod edit].

You don't understand the contract if you think the counter matters on a 23m7 award or if you think it's an IA

Yes, it is dismissive. There are 1,000+ nuances to the contract and working the gaps and seams that are not apparent from reading the PWA or even SRH.

If you have so much knowledge, why don’t you share it. Or send a PM?

If you're not getting any IA calls and it went senior, I would believe it's more likely than not deal making. Also, what a lot of guys do is answer when called and, when the trip is gone, they are offered a trip that is going out in IA that they weren't called for

I’m sure people are also going to complain about not getting a premium rotation, meanwhile they didn’t go through the bid packet to even notice there were premium rotations in the bid packet for Feb.
We will always be asking questions that can be answered by reading the PWA, SRH, or an ALPA blast. We all need some grace. Please don't throw shade when it happens.
