How to actually get an IA
#11
I'm happy to never see an IA for the rest of my career than to be credibly accused of making a "side deal".
Very disheartening to read the LEC memos about pilots being counselled over it.

The ALV issue is if your accumulated ALV for the month is above ALV you are ineligible for a IA, as I understand It. However, probably still can’t get through to get It and a sketchy side deal may be happening anyway.

And unless you are top 10%, you aren’t getting any 23M7 except as a sheer luck thing.
So, if you are between 10-80% in category, you basically can’t get either. It’s outrageous. But it’s also leverage I hope we use to get some massive quids in sec 6, and more importantly, an on time or early deal. If we are smart.

Not so sure about the start at the bottom thing. I finally got an IA call the other day, but it had already been awarded to someone senior to me, five minutes BEFORE I received the call. Frankly, I see why guys are calling and making deals. I don't agree with it, but it's not shocking with the current system the way it is.

It’s never cool to belittle one of own pilots. How about a little more to the references or explanation. This is one of the most rampant issues that effecting our group and knowledge is helpful.

if they read the PWA about this, you wouldn’t have to explain it. Some people are lazy and don’t want to adapt / learn the contract. People still think you literally have to fly on the holiday to get holiday pay on a rotation. They don’t bother to look stuff up and just go off of what some other pilot told them. I’m sure people are also going to complain about not getting a premium rotation, meanwhile they didn’t go through the bid packet to even notice there were premium rotations in the bid packet for Feb.

I get called, press *, then sit on hold until it’s covered by someone else.

My theory is pilots are calling scheduling and just asking if trip is in IA yet thus jumping the call. Waiting for the call is too late. I’m sure some pilots are getting crappy trips that no one wants but I’m convinced this is what is going on. It’s probably even worse than this for some pilots, but I try to give our group the benefit of the doubt.
