Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain “options” for me in simple terms?
What are they?
Why do they exist?
What are the pros/cons?
Why don’t I hear this term in other industries?
Anything else important to know about the concept?
I’m sure it’s a stupid question to most of you here, but I honestly have no idea. Thanks.

I would guess 245t since they won't be doing any super long routes, IIRC FCO and BCN to SEA will be the longest. Air Algiers are flying a 339 on CAN-ALG for what it's worth, blocked at 14:30, not sure how much payload they can take on that with 251t.

i think they learned their lesson about going cheap and not having aircraft that are capable of the missions they want to fly. They tried making the 359 do what they need the 35K to do. I don’t think they’re looking to repeat that mistake with the 251t 339.

There's an interesting Flight Ops "Approach," podcast about fleet plans.
It looks the 787's will fit size-wise between the A350-900 and -1000, but will not have the range. It will be used in thicker hub-to-"hub" markets in Europe/SA, allowing the 330-900's to fly thinner routes and explore new markets (what the ER does now.)
Also, they're going to try DPS seating as FC on the new 321-neo's rather than have the aircraft grounded waiting on D1 suites.

If DPS stands Delta Premium Select (currently only on WB), then it is a step up from the NEO.
