/s/ Driving to training is a choice. Commuters don't have problems with broken windows in ATL. /s/

It's been a while since having a sim partner with a car, but I seem to recall a couple of them parking on Delta property and taking the hotel shuttle. Is that still an option?

Probably, there's enough parking available. I thought about renting a car for my upcoming journey back to VA Ave but think I'll just take the skyhop/Uber when needed.

I've been leaving my car parked at the training center, no push back yet.

The problem at the Hilton isn't difficult to solve, it's just takes the will and money from Delta to make it happen. Two more units at the hotel 24/7 to secure the parking lot according to the police.

It surprises me the zero fuc$s give by Delta about this. When someone gets seriously injured or killed if the family members decided to pursue it there is a bunch of information out there describing the risk and the lack of action on Deltas part.

Having a vehicle down there makes a long course so much more palatable. Just being able to easily get off the island is pretty dang nice. You could always uber, but I bet I spent less in gas getting down/back than just a few uber rides.

And I fully believe that they would use that threat if it suited some perceived need. I can also envision the issues that may arise from keeping all the FA trainees in the same company property as all of the pilot trainees in some kind of company-sponsored sleep away camp. They did that in my regional days 20+ years ago and....well.....I can envision the problems.

Pilot/FA issues aside, what are you worried about with your "activities being tracked" and being on a badged access location? When I'm in training, I show up, go to the sim, eat, study, sleep, repeat. You running some kind of underground operation that you don't want them knowing about or something?

oh, I’ve got nothing to hide. But that’s never been the point. I guess if you don’t get it I can’t explain it. Which is fine. I also turn my iPad off when the airplane shuts down and I don’t keep any personal items on it. I just don’t see the upside. Especially at a company that seems to want to antagonize and scrutinize us the way this one does. The less they know about me (or any of us) the better off we all are

But I most definitely do more than you just described at longer training events.

Personally, I wouldn’t be any more concerned about being “tracked” at a company hotel than I am at the current assortment of hotels on Virginia Ave. Delta has a close enough relationship with those hotels that they can gather any data they need, should a pilot do something that warrants it.

You think somebody told the company about my desk pop in the Hilton?

Most likely the CPO has already added you to their “desk pop list”.

My post may have come off a bit flippant, but I genuinely was wondering what the concern was. I spent my entire career before Delta, needing an ID to get on base, then I needed to badge into a room, just to get to my desk. Then more badged access to get out to the jet, so maybe I'm a little conditioned lol. I also understand the capability of tracking, microphone/camera use, etc... wrt electronic devices.

I'm with you to an extent on the iPad thing. I don't use it for anything other than an EFB, no personal apps, no banking, etc... I'm not as worried about turning it off at work, then again, I sit SC in base and I'm not that worried that they know my iPad is sitting at my house. As far as the scrutiny, no matter how much someone cries victim, I'd wager that if we dug into it, we'd see that the individual gave them a long list of reasons to do so.

Like Ancam said above, if they really wanted some data from the Hilton, they're going to get it.

for the most part, I agree. To steal a couple of quotes: “why take a chance? At least that’s the way I look at it.”
