From what I've seen, trips are in open time for a few days, then they'll send a trip or two out on Arcos to GS. It gets bogged down by IBWS/OOBWS farmers, then gets sent out as QS. This effectively takes out any commuter (of which DAL is over 50%).

Need PS, no backup required for GS/QS!

RG's formula for success:

garbage bid pack trip construction + coverage inefficiencies + PB pull + pre-posted rest = chaos

(or you are all a bunch of racketeers....or...whatever...)

I'm a commuter and can make most QSs I'm offered, especially those that start with DHs.

Where you commute from is a choice.../s

There's a lot of guys that say "you can't see if they ran trip coverage, it's probably bogged down in out of base white slip blah blah." Well there have been plenty of trips this week that'll sit in open time all day long before you get the call for in base white slip.

So yes, they're definitely sitting on trips (not on purpose, they're just way understaffed). I find it's usually for trips a day out, which, ok not an immediate concern, but they wait so long that it does become an immediate concern because it's midnight before it finally makes it past in base white slip. (And that's not because in base white slip took 12 hours to run either).

2 things can be true at the same time. You can watch on Arcos on some trips as it ticks down through all of the "1" pilots one at a time. They (CS) also sit on trips that ought to be sent out way earlier, like days earlier. So, yeah, they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Edit: I can remember in 2021/22 green slips would go out on a Tuesday at 1200 Mecca time for trips beginning on a Thursday or Friday. If CS adopted this tactic, their farming costs would drop precipitously.

Purely manipulation to prevent line holders from dropping trips and preventing reserves form adjusting their schedule.

Think of it like this: Pretend Joe is a reserve Pilot with preposted rest. If you want to drop a trip you cant because Joe being on rest puts the reserves available number negative but Joe is actually available the whole time.

It has zero affect on the number of reserves actually available it just lowers the ICrew "reserves available" number which restricts Pilots from using many PCS functions.

Yep, and to make it even worse, it does absolutely nothing to actually improve anything for the company. It only serves to scratch their white-whale itch over perceived 'churn'. Most of the 'rest' being pre-assigned is already automatic by PWA if unused at 0600 going into a golden day. It's a total waste to assign something that's going to happen anyway. But you are the last pilot left, THEN they'll remove it to tag you. Incredibly disingenuous.

I'd also add that it is hosing senior pilots on reserve who are getting stuck with trips while junior goes unused due to junior's rest. That systemic action alone is a violation of the contract.

They are 100% sitting on trips in open time for 12+ hours before running coverage. I know how to read ARCOS and do the math backwards. When I'm #15 or something on the list it's easy enough to see when about trip coverage started. It's not taking 1+ hours per pilot to get through their window, not since the new automation from December.

The other problem is them sitting on trips they should know will never get covered with a WS or GS. By the time they break it up, it's already too late to run it again
