I've been wearing my ALPA lanyard since the day ALPA handed them out. As a very young and clueless pilot at my regional I went to an ALPA council meeting with my sim partner (upgrading CA) and learned a lot about ALPA and the importance of unity.
I used to wear a pin in my tie but it would always get caught on shoulder harnesses, etc. so I got out of the habit. Is everyone putting the ALPA pin over that red design thing they put on the tie or somewhere else?

If you're out of uniform, why the F are you outwardly wearing your name tag+lanyard? Your incognito cover is blown!
I know company actually states not to display it out of uniform.. but I say don't do it for the same reason you wouldn't wear your hat while seated on your DH.

I could care less if other crew see me in incognito mode. They and some airport staff are the only ones coherent enough to see or care. The family of 5 going to MCO chasing 3 ADHD kiddos ain't gonna care that I have black pants and some cool guy luggage.

The average traveler can't even find their seat in an airplane with numbers and letters for them to sit in. Now even the friggin IFE has the seat number on it.

I always wear ALPA lanyard, bag tags, and lapel pins. But I confess Im not planning on taking my Yeti mug with the "don't drink the coolaide" sticker to captain leadership course for my first Delta upgrade.
My mere existence sometimes draws the ire of the old guard types (esp. the ones with whom "DEI" and "inclusion" are trigger words), so I don't wanna pile it on in DCLC of all places.
Wise move or missed opportunity? Idk but I'm inclined to play it safe till I'm done with training. Then "don't drink the coolaide" sticker goes with me everywhere.

Anxiously awaiting my 30 year pin so I can raise an eyebrow and congratulate the pilots I fly with for getting their 1-5-10-20 year pins.
(The ornery side of me wants to buy a 1 year pin off Ebay and wear it for yucks)
