Also Carl;
It is my understanding that those vacancies will be filled prior to SOC. Thus negating the effects of the 742's getting parked.

Although I agree with Carl, we should stop the bickering. It's not fruitful. Let us be glad we're not the East vs West battle and move on.

Another great point and one I totally agree with. Like I said, it is what it is. Lets direct some of that energy towards securing our lost flying and better wages and work rules for the entire group.

Another 757-200 "ER" is coming. It was one of the TWA ones identified by the company during their search, but someone else got to it first. That operation folded/fell through, and now the plane has been acquired by Delta.
It'll have to go through an HMV but has already been retrofitted with winglets... so the "new" ship 6818 will be on the line in a month or 2.

The displacement looks like it will be around 100 total.... it will not all be concentrated to the ATL 767, though. It will be spread around to 767 and 7ER fleets around the system, though which ones are a bit vague at this time.

Have you thanked a PRIP today? :)

acl65pilot 07-17-2009 07:34 PM

Yeah, they keep going back and forth on what 767 guys are going to get bumped. I am betting on the CVG ER getting trimmed too!

To be senior on the 88 or junior on the 75. Ah, the dilemma. Thoughts?

Carl, an objective analysis would that DALPA's proposal was far more in line with the goals of ALPA's merger policy than NALPA's.

The arbitrators were not tasked with splitting the difference between competing proposals.

Time to move on.

Heard that PDX-NRT is going back to A330. Not finalized yet, but almost ...

Now that advantage is GONE after one PRIP.

I think you and all the DAL-S guys will understand that the best way to make (and keep) friends is to not complain to the losing side. You do not know what it's like to lose completely...we do. Let's just keep quiet and move on.

Carl

Will someone please remind me why we are still complaining about SLI, especially when it's related to PERP. Who here is crying about a bunch of senior guys (pull and plug) who were integrated on a list and now retired with 9 mos pay before the list even affected them. We knew when PERP was announced that it was targeting FNWA guys since DAL-S guys were bought out prior to bk. As a pilot group, I say FNWA guys did well since the over 65 74-200 FE's were made eligible, even though the co just could have parked the a/c and let them go in Dec saving millions in PERP $$'s. The union did those guys well and every penny those guys paid in dues dollars was just returned with interest. They essentially got 9 mos pay for their termination when us jr folks will get one month pay for every yr with the co if we get furloughed (and no retirement/Social Security/401k/403b etc to draw from either). I'm sure the union will not do so well for us if the time comes.

The perp numbers may also help the North side relegate too much downward movement during the fall displacement as 74 and A330 CA's chose to depart. Probably does not help the FO side though. Finally, I think, and folks will disagree, that the junior folks (01 and later) on the North side who frequent this board should not complain too heavily about losing a 100 numbers or so (maybe more) of seniority. I believe that if one runs the numbers, when you came both up to DAL-S pay scales and got your furloughed years added back on to your longevity, you made up for lost pay over time since we only know current events and not future ones. Right now Asia travel (North's widebody strength), is down 17%. I'm sure you would be feeling some displacement pain anyway if you had not merged and maybe worse.

We should all feel lucky that OUR DAL (cross my fingers) is the ONLY Legacy not too have furloughs. Let's work together to keep it that way. BTW, thanks to the guys who chose the PERP. That job they saved could be ours. Now let's agree to disagree, be professionals, and move on.
