More cuts at CVG.
Cincinnati hub is shrinking| ajc.com Can you cut CVG tremendously but still keep a pilot and FA base or at what point do they have to end that? The word is that in the fall, they'll be decreasing 75/76 time, and increasing 88 time. That may or may not translate to maintaining the size of the crew base, though. I'd be surprised if it's a crew base much longer, especially given the low cost of hotel rooms here. |

This is a rehash of the previously announced cuts. That being said, I'd be shocked if CVG is anything more than a focus city in a few years. Given the number of FFs, and the corporate accounts, DL will always have a presence here. There is not enough O&D for a hub, though.

Junior ER is always tempting. How's the commute? If nothing else, some of the folks bidding Atlanta might reconsider if flying they like is in the base they are used to.
What's coming to Atlanta? I figure Atlanta is growing by about 1,000 pilots.

Well at 500' I have always verified gear, flap and speed break position. Even with almost 10K hrs I still and very "wired" for what's missing. I always look at the flap lever(handle), the indication and the FMC desired position on each required checklist as well as when I go in to position and then again right before I add power.
I also state with LNAV captures as well as VNAV when we arm them prior to take off. Just a note to myself that things are going as expected. I think most pilots get more deliberate as they get older. I see that in myself. Cheers! |

You ready to commute to DTW. It will be an ER base.
I realized long ago that I'd never be flying out of CVG again. Even if they hang on to the ER base here (which I doubt), the trips will be terrible. It will be interesting to see how the flights to ATL, DTW, and NYC change as the CVG hub draws down. I've got to believe that the number of seats to those hubs will increase, as the flights to all the other destinations decrease. We still need to move the same number of FFs to their destinations. |

How many items are on the FNWA taxi check? We have 2 items at DAL-S. Flaps, and flight controls. That's it. It's really pretty hard to miss them. At my previous airline, we called for the flaps to be set. FO set them then we checked during the taxi. Now we brief it, enter it in the FMS, look at it on the MCDU, and dual-check it twice. All without unnecessary verbiage. I think some of you guys are making a mountain of a molehill here.
Now who's got the inside scoop on the AE/Displacement Bid? How junior is EMB-190 CA in LGA going to go?? ;) And most importantly, how many of you are taking VD's/ bidding out of LAX so I can stay home with my beautiful wife and two small children who desperately need me (to not commute). |

If the trips are good, I'll be looking at it! It's tough to beat the trips we have in New York, though...
It's definitely time to start thinking about this now. I suppose we could always VD ourselves out of a category come March if it ended up being crap I guess. |

Thats the thing...as they start putting out the AE's to move things around are we really going to know what the trips look like yet? Something you could hold now could possibility be something you won't be able to hold when the NW guys start getting dibs.

Fine with me! Let's get on with it already!

Does anybody know what happens on international flights where there's 15 seats avail up front but coach is oversold by 20? Do some people in the back get bumped up front or are they left at the gate?
