My two cents is that this now allows the employee to see how the company is treating the orders (no surprises). Not all orders have an exempt statement but are still exempt if they support GWOT contingency ops.

Not sure what happens to the pre-2010 orders.
Rumor only but I heard there have been complaints by junior pilots that a lot of the pilots out on long term Mil leave are not on exempt orders but staying out on a volunteer basis to get there 20 years in. Some have felt they are coming back on the list above them when they are not entitled to that under federal law.

As a very junior pilot I find that very hard to believe.

Rumor only, but I heard that m88 pilots have been complaining about gigantism from prolonged periods of time on the flight deck.

Well, one junior guy had the balls to sue on the order of the #SSN for the newhire classes back in later 2007... and another one did similar in 2000 or so causing us to go to the #SSN in the first place.

Never underestimate someone rattling the cage.

I've never really thought about it, but now that I am at this moment... deep down, I guess I do feel it is a bit disingenuous for someone to take the seniority slot and then take advantage of leave and get their 20 years, and then reap the seniority benefits of a job they've barely worked. (this only is pointed at the extreme examples)

It needs to be said that regardless their service is honorable.

You make a couple of good points. If a guy is out on MILLEV, and just doing what he's been called out to do, I'm all for him keeping his place in line, so to speak. The way the rules are written, leaves it so open to abuse kind of makes it untenable.....guy get the interview, hired on, and never intending to fly till he's actually out of the mil. and secured a retirement, then comes back--bam--left seat on whatever he can hold. Maybe I'm missing something...
