No worries, not much anyone can do about it. I understand as I fly also, but we carry extra starters with us. I guess I should have been more obviously sarcastic. "Starter/Generator" was said more than once yesterday on the PA in the aircraft and terminal.
It has been a goat rope though and airlines just never seem to have a contingency plan. I'm currently furloughed and on my way to Japan to interview. Hoping they still let me do the screening when I get there; Should be like flying the line when I get in the simulator exhausted from being on an airplane for 11 hours. If they do not let me interview because I missed my slot, maybe Delta will give me a chance:eek: You've had a string of bad luck lately. Weren't you at World? :( Sorry your experience on Delta sucked. I hope all goes well with your interview. |

The F/A essentially told the passengers to clean the plane, and at the end regarding gate checks, I quote, "LINE UP AGAINST THE WALL." |

Please tell me why your "Air Line" does not keep extra starter generators at your Int'l hub of SEA... My flight for NRT was supposed to leave @ 1340 yesterday and we are still here watching the flight slide back later and later. Showed up this morn @ 0500 to stand in line at check-in for 2.5 hours. They hadn't changed the flight# and couldn't sell the seats? What a goat rope of an "air line." Reminds me of the time 76-300 returned to FRA after departure, sit on hard stand for 2 hours, NO SERVICE, take-off to arrive in ATL when line of T-storms forecasted to arrive. Well it did and produced tornadoes in DT Atlanta so we diverted to Birmingham, an airport without customs; Good thing there wasn't a problem with the airplane when we arrived. Sure seems like people are asleep at the wheel in the planning department over there.
Funny how you guys and United have your CEOs on you "welcome aboard" videos spewing out total blatant lies about customer service and being comfortable on the aircraft, all while sitting in the WORST pitched seats on a 17 hour delayed Int'l flight. Reminds me of the White House and Capital Hill. U.S. Airlines are the worst... and unfortunately there is nothing the front line employees can do about it. The parts arrived, the aircraft was repaired, but unfortunately, due to a Japanese Government curfew on flights arriving at NRT after a certain hour, Delta was unable to operate the flight at that time. All passengers were either rerouted to their destinations, or provided rooms and meal vouchers. As for standing in line... I am not sure why you'd need to do that if they rebooked you, unless you were rechecking bags, but even then a kiosk should suffice. Did you have a problem with your ticket or your seat assignment? Most things can be done on a smart phone or computer if you have internet access. If you are considering a career in aviation, I'd suggest getting to know the ins and outs of all the complexities involved in the endeavor. While frustrating, delays and cancellations are a part of the business and we do the best we can to mitigate them. If you have a better way to make the mousetrap, then I congratulate you on your impending fortune in consulting:) "Rots of ruck" in your interview!!! |
So is SEA going to be the new JFK. I gotta look at the bid package and see if the ER trips are all like the old JFK trips only to Asia instead of to Europe.

Flying sucks out there, stay far far away!!
