Just looking for some advice please?! I know that once Delta starts hiring, it's going to take a wing and a prayer! But can anyone tell me if devoting oneself to operating as Delta connection only, would give you any advantage? If you could move to the interview, and explain that you have spent the last 7 years working only Delta flights in hopes of landing a job there, would that mean anything?!

There are a couple of advantages to your background (if nothing has changed since 2007):
  • The company already "knows you." Your HR information is already on Delta's computer (pay records were cross checked on absences) and former Delta managers, like Charlie Tutt, run ASA Flight Operations. They know, and like, folks like Fred Lambert. Assume they eat lunch together and will be talking about candidates.
  • The hiring process is still a bit "romantic," for lack of a better word. They want to hire pilots that love Delta and want Delta to be #1. If you had a picture of a Delta 757 over your Pam Anderson picture in high school, tell them.
I think there is something to saying all you have ever wanted to do is fly Delta passengers and that's what you've been doing ... and be humble. You are mostly running a gauntlet designed to destroy longevity. Good luck to you. It is great to have "Delta" both on your paycheck & the side of the airplane.

Note to 88/90 crews: It doesn't matter what the temp is outside, nor what it feels like in the cockpit; if air isn't hooked up and you don't have the APU going then your passengers are experiencing a stuffy and less than enjoyable cabin during the boarding up until pushback. Just sayin'.

+10000

That goes for all fleets. If it's hot in the back fire up the APU. Never understood the mentality of those that hold off APU start until D-10 when it's 80+ in the back.

This deserves a "Top 10"

... hope I can get finished before the "edit" function of APC times out.

I think some just go off the temp alone, but even if temp is OK the stagnant air eventually gets to be too much when there isn't any air hooked up.

These are the same tools that wear their hat on the crew bus.

Got an e-mail from C20. Current C20 FO rep was elected as the DALPA EVP. The current EVP is running for C20 Chairman. More of the same.

As much as I'd like to see the hat go away too, I don't understand the animosity towards the pilots who wear it. (Besides, it's easier to wear it than hold it while carrying two bags and a cup of coffee. :))

Sometime the head is a convenient place to put a hat ... just sayin. Put it on the seat beside you and someone will sit on the hat. That's because sometime a seat on a bus is where people sit.

Then ... some people just hate hats ...

The current C20 rep just elected EVP is a very sharp and capable individual. The EVP running for C20 Chair has done a lot of good work and both as EVP and as a LEC rep previously.

I suppose you are still fighting over the Roberts award and targeting
