I think your way overestimating the growth at Alaska. In fact they recalled their last furloughed pilot well after we did in 2010. I bet their growth over the last 10 years has not exceeded 10 percent. Every airline has cycles. Do you attribute their growth to Delta passengers or the fact they run a outstanding airline with huge customer loyalty? They also code share with American. Their fleet had 117 aircraft at the end of 2011. At the end of 2013 they are projected to have 127 aircraft or a net gain of 10 airframes over 2 years. That is a growth rate around 4 percent a year. Prior to that they had guys on furlough.

We had 767 airplanes in 2008 and now have 720ish. Do the math on that net growth for me, sailing.

We are projected to have 797 airframes in 3 years. Does it surprise you that we retired 40 plus year old airframes.

AS retired a pile of old airframes as well. Go on?

Youre great with reciting stats... but almost always miss the mark on the interpretation and application.

Delta still has 767 airplanes, in addition to many other types.

Are you referring to a West Coast domicile? Isn't that all they have? You must not be referring to the 737, as that's all they have as well so they couldn't hold anything else. But even if you were referring to the 737 you'd still be wrong, as 2010 hires have been on the 737 for over a year.

You guys keep saying that but the numbers don't add up in the end. Maybe I'm missing something but I think that was more of a projection for shareholders. I know I know you can't lie...on purpose...to the shareholders but if your projections are wrong well oops the business plan changed is all.

I hope you are right but the last 10 years have made me more cynical than optimistic.

Maybe we should periodically post a survey in the regional forum to see where the most desired jobs are these days. I'm sure DAL will place near the top, but might bring out some interesting stats. Should be pretty random since most of the regionals are represented here in some shape or form.

Maybe their optimism will lift me up

DAL would be a top place. I'm guessing along with Fed Ex, SWA(even though I think it's stagnant & a bad move)UAL, Us Air(think movement), American, Atlas, Spirit, and Jet Blue.
