I guess I was a sucker because I voted yes. Before you spool up, let me explain my logic. I and about 1100 of my coworkers were furloughed when 50 seat RJs were burgeoning at DCI. I voted yes to markedly reduce the number of RJs and grow domestic mainline from flying 55% to 65% of DAL passengers.
I realize that 76 jets are more viable and will be around for longer than the 50 seaters, but I don't care. In my mind the cancer of outsourcing via DCI is now a permanent part of this industry, RJs are not going away, so lets assume that they are permanent and try to reduce their percentage vice thinking we can sunset them.
Strategy vs tactics.
Scoop
PS - George knows more about the hazards of outsourcing then 99% of the Pilots on this board.

I'm personally pretty happy that DCI is getting decimated right now after years of nothing but growing at mainline's expense. I'll be super happy when the 717s show up and mainline grows. How's that for negativity?
Maybe a mechanic can dance over and take a look, and maybe all of our buttons are bad, or at least set too sensitive. I was upset about the WDR on push, then Standard Text, then the hat memo, and I'll be a monkey's uncle if I didn't jump all over that Fly button. The PA memo just about gave me a coronary. By the VA JV, I was down to just leaning my head over my left shoulder, and gently drooling.
Maybe I'm all out of upset, I don't know. Or maybe it's the Christmas spirit catching up, but while the pilots doing the dosy-do seem sort of goofy, and the notion of finding a pilot young enough, and a flight attendant slim enough, for one to carry the other seems implausible... I'm just going to pass on the indignation this time.
Happy Holidays.

1985 BMW K100 w/ 100,000 miles on the clock. Rode it nearly 15,000 miles around the circumference of the lower 48, and to Alaska and back, among other rides.
OK, my boat is a wee bit less impressive than this (crewed on this one in the BVI recently)! Have a 21' Santana I sail on Lake Minnetonka.
46 J3 Cub I have a 1/12 share in...no electrical, very basic, tons of fun.

As for the gunships, yes, I did. In AFSOC we were more about accomplishing the desired objectives and getting the mission done; not so much on talking about it. In my experience, customers appreciate results, not talk. Maybe that's where I get it from.

Sweet Cub JungleBus. Wish I could afford one. Maybe one day. Where do you keep her? We live on NC 26. Google it when you have time then use Google Earth for a better view. 3000' grass surrounded by Lake Norman. Cheers H

Nice stuff, keep it coming.
My screen name, "Bucking Bar," originates from bringing salvaged and wrecked airplanes back to life, including a little rivet driving and wrench turning on Delta's Ship 41 after is came up from Puerto Rico as a corroded mess. Here is one of my projects which got a rebuilt flap, two wing leading edges, and engine / prop upgrade. Sold this airplane just before the market tanked and recently got into another Bonanza.
