All my days are good days. Some are really good. They usually include commuting home where the FAs show some compassion by not making excessive PAs, the pilot doesn't stand at the door and give everyone on board a four minute description of his flying career and how he used to land on boats. Where I don't have to listen to RA tell me how he gets to sit at CE's desk everyday, followed by a lengthy advertisement pushing AmEx cards where I have no where to go to escape the non-stop barrage of people who love to hear themselves talk. If I were a frequent flyer the last thing I'd need is for the crew to feel I'm honored to have them talk to me even more when I'm trying to enjoy some quiet time after a hectic day where I'm just looking forward to getting on my computer and use the wifi so I can open my email only to get hit with spam showing dancing Delta employees and their magic wand routine. My diamond medallion AF friends who fly around the globe and are away from home more days than most Delta pilots have said as much.
As for the gunships, yes, I did. In AFSOC we were more about accomplishing the desired objectives and getting the mission done; not so much on talking about it. In my experience, customers appreciate results, not talk. Maybe that's where I get it from.

I've seen your airport on approach to CLT! Looks like a sweet little strip, and Lake Norman is a gorgeous area. Do you actually have a house/hangar right on the runway? Someday....
OK - off to snowblow the driveway. 6" and counting so far today....

It's a flying club bird, with 12 members, quite cheap to buy in and to fly - otherwise no way I could afford an airplane right now with my other hobbies. She's hangared at Airlake (KLVN), on about a 12 mile final to Runway 35 in MSP. I'm always up for any excuse to go fly her, so feel free to PM me sometime you're stuck on the frozen tundra of MSP for an overnight .

MSP is getting hammered right now. But it helps one get in a Christmas mood.

I post about once a year, read occasionally. This forum has become a ditch....stuff seeps down into it that really is not worth recycling.
I am immensely proud of what Delta Air Lines has accomplished in the 4 years since we merged two rudderless once great entities. I think focusing on our High Value Customers is logical and vital to our collective and individual financial health. I'm not a tweeter or heavy multimedia guy, but it appears that many of our customers are. I'm not the guy you want flash mobbing or dancing on youtube, but if they find someone that is, good for us. I have relished customer interaction all my career, they pay my family's bills and I want desperately for them to come back. I think the pilot announcement initiative is a valuable tool, and WE are the authority figure that may just smooth over concerns before they end up becoming a complaint. If I'm not involved in my duties, or addressing physiological needs, I'll be glad to make a 30 second PA in the gate area.
This career has not gone the way I thought it would, I never thought I'd be a 26 year FO commuting to work. I'm adjusting to this with as much flexibility as I can, but every day I am grateful to be able to do what I chose to do as a Second Lieutenant in the USAF 33 years ago. It is fun. I like helping others. Other than being a Beach Lifeguard, or a Search and Rescue pilot, which I'm too old to do anymore, I'm content the choices I've made have given me enough rewards to give a little of myself to those that have made my family's lifestyle possible. Merry Christmas, Ghostrider! God keep the souls of Spirit 03, and especially my close friend, Arthur N. Galvan.

Seems that your definition of a "good day" is guzzling widget-aid and posting here while under its influence.
You paint everyone who disagrees with your take on what Delta is or ought to be as angry or an "ass" (your word, borrowed from tsquare) regardless of how accurate or constructive he is.
Everyone's welcome to have an opinion--as long as it's the same as buzzpat's.

What made the loss amusing was the witness statement, who said, "it was like the pilot was shot out of a Roman Catapult, then the Catapult flew in behind him .... " Ouch.

Just did an accident investigation on a similar design called a "Breezy." When the craft hit the tops of the trees the pilot came out, then the contraption followed him into the crash site. He survived.
