My bag always went in the FA's closet - never seemed to be much of a problem as long as I asked nicely :)

I used to fly the 737 and thought I remembered stacking the bags one on top of the other in that location - so now we only put one bag there?

Thanks Scoop

Was told by CAs when I was on the 800 that its in the red book that we get to use the forward closet. Only got to be a problem when we had a wheel chair that had to be boarded vice gate checked.

The 26" bag would be real tight in the cockpit. The 22" worked best but the pouches can and will catch on the side rails. Have seen 2 22" bags make it into the slot, but that was a rarity. If the Capt packs like a chick, you're hosed!

I've ridden the seat behind the CA 3 or 4 times in my life, once for 3+ hours. That thing is torture with 4 big men in the cockpit of the 737, it looked like this: :mad::mad: + 1. There is a limit of 3 smilies in a post so I can't show four and I can't show me, the 4th, with my legs wrapped around the Captains head anyways but thats how that thing goes. I think my knees covered his ears.

Still better than being left at the gate.

Hey Scoop, it works both ways. Since I'm normally the first guy to the jet I throw mine underneath the jump seat. About half of the CAs put theirs in the coat closet. The other half put theirs on top of mine if it fits. No one gets bent around the axle either way. Some FAs need the red book education though

I am guessing that the PNT 27' does not work there.

Not even close. I have my old Mad Dog bag that just barely fits. Plus, if you take more than one bag on your rotations there's little if no room for it in the cockpit. I stuff it down in front of the cb panel. Most guys throw theirs into the coat closet as well.

FYI, PurdyNeat or Luggageworks or whatever they're called today makes a 22" bag specifically for the 737. It's an inch narrower than the standard bag, so the side pockets don't rip off.

And like Forgot To Bid, I've also had the "honor" on occasion of being the fourth guy in the 737 cockpit while commuting out of EWR. I'm 6'6" and by the time they'd unhook the tow bar, I'd be thinking, "I should have gotten a d@#n hotel room." Then we'd make the turn on Bravo to find out we're number 44 for departure. It's a good thing there was no room to move, 'cause if I could have gotten my hands on that crash axe, I would have cleaved myself to death. The only thing worse was then having to listen to some scab captain complain about how the alimony payments to his three wives kept him from making his boat payment, all while he's sliding back his seat.

The 73N cockpit is too damn small for the two pilots that normally occupy it as it is. The jumpseat is like some medieval torture device. I can't imagine another human being crammed into that little space. Wouldn't be enough O2 for the four of us.

This my friends, is where Airbus has Boeing beat. I've rode the Jumpseat on WN, & it stinks. In a A320 4 crew plus everyones bags is NO PROB & it's comfortable. With ZERO jumpseaters I've got plenty of room to stand up & stretch while on long flights such as DTW-SFO or MSP-ZIH.

Now only if they hadn't displaced me off it back to the DC9. :(

Oh well, here's to being employed!! :)
