Hey ACL,

Any idea if these are weekly or daily slots, and do we have a quantifiable number of how many of these slots will be flown by mainline vs "larger" RJ's?

Also did the recent AE account for this anticipated flying and positions?

This sounds awesome for DAL guys, but do you think that an RJ is " a larger jet" than LCC's turboprops? Hopefully the increased manning in MD-88's and 73N's up in NYC means mainline jets, not DCI.

Well, the article did say 'larger Regional AND Mainline jets' :)

Does "Larger Jets" mean 76 seaters?

At LGA, Delta expects expanded employment opportunities as we expand our flight schedules there.

Man, I hope thats really directed at us, I fear 76 seaters being given a lot of room there as they're probably right sized for a lot of flying out of LGA. Too bad we don't have them here.

My favorite part of the airticle:

"...rebrand US Airways' existing main terminal gates, ticket counters and lounges to Delta's standards....."

In addition to changing the signage around the terminal, my guess is Delta will be restocking all levels of the terminal with fresh pigeons and rats. This will allow a seamless transition for customers who regularly fly out of JFK, while bringing the aesthetic appeal of their "new" terminal in LGA "up" to the standards of all Delta terminals in the New York area.

Good point Johnso29, as I re-read it I saw that. Also, the concept of carrying more pax per takeoff points to mainline jets. Perhaps the emplyment oppurtunities were for gatehouse/ramp types.

Nahh, MD-90's, DC-9's, A319's..... will be perfect and it looks like we might be hiring again as far as I can see...:D

"Delta's investment at LaGuardia is good for customers because it provides new convenient service options and ensures continued access to many small communities that our competitors have not historically served," said Gail Grimmett, Delta's senior vice president - New York. "During the last 30 years, successful slot trades have helped foster a competitive environment for the airline industry. With this agreement, Delta will inject additional competition in the New York market. Many small- and medium-sized communities throughout upstate New York and New England will benefit from service upgrades where Delta will operate larger regional and mainline jets."

Quote from: Delta Reinforces New York Commitment with Plan for Domestic Hub at LaGuardia Airport - MarketWatch

"Delta expects to more than double the number of nonstop destinations it serves from LaGuardia by adding or preserving service to more than 30 small- and medium-sized communities. The airline plans to add new flights to more than a dozen cities not currently served by US Airways. In every slot where US Airways operates small turboprops today, Delta will operate larger jets. These new markets and larger aircraft would allow more than two million additional passengers to transit LaGuardia each year without increasing the total number of takeoffs and landings."

Sounds like mainline to me.:D I am really starting to like the way our management operate.

Any word on whether the 1500nm restriction will be lifted out of LGA? That would almost certainly mean more mainline jets in and out of there.
