Good point, & probably still true today. Most are likely too lazy to go through the procedure to use them.

True, and most of the time people misplace them.
For some reason they never misplace the drink vouchers though!

Deutsche Lufthansa AG reports 12% passenger increase
August 11, 2009

Deutsche Lufthansa AG said that its July traffic increased by 12%, The Associated Press reported. The figure reflects small increases in demand in Europe and Asia as well as the consolidation of British carrier BMI, the article said.

The group, which includes Swiss International Airlines, carried 7.2 million passengers in July. That is up from the 6.4 million passengers carried in July of last year, when the airline faced a series of strikes . The group’s load factor of 83.1% was up from 82.9%. Lufthansa Cargo saw a 4.8% annual decline, the article said. Lufthansa alone saw a 0.2% increase in demand in Europe and a 1% increase in the Asia-Pacific region. Demand fell 2.1% in the Americas, the article noted.

By including British Midland Airways, 757,000 passengers were added to the total figure, though Lufthansa and Swiss also saw slight increases in passenger levels, the article reported.

Heathrow sees July growth despite travel slump
August 11, 2009

The British Airports Authority (BAA) reported this week that London’s Heathrow airport had its third busiest month on record in July, despite the slower demand for travel this summer.

Heathrow said 6.5 million passengers used the airport in July, a 0.9% increase year over year, despite a 3% decline in the number of flights from the airport. A BAA spokesman said aircraft were taking off with more seats filled because of fare reductions and because poor weather in the U.K. may have prompted more people to take last-minute trips overseas.

Overall, BAA’s seven U.K. airports handled a total of 14.5 million passengers, 2.4% fewer than last July, but improved compared with larger decreases of 5.9% in June and 7.3% in May.

Speaking of LGA, some swapping already started. Doesn't involve Delta directly, but the principle is the same: let airlines consolidate along certain routes/hubs. Overall, if everyone retrenches, everyone benefits a little. The same overall capacity competes on fewer routes, across fewer airlines. In Monopoly, this would be the part where you're sick of getting 4$ of rent for an empty lot, then going to jail and paying $50 to get out. At some point, you take a glance at the other players, and agree to trade properties...

This helps reduce a little competition between ATL and EWR, at any rate. Detrimental for ATL-LGA.

Heyas ACL,

That's how it will be constructed.

However, objects in your mirror may appear smaller. One has to understand the nature, history and past utilization of the slo...er, items in question to really understand what's going on.

With CAL doing less flying out of DCA I wonder if this means they will move over to the old NW gates and we will take over that entire pier (including the CAL gates).

It's already been announced we won't be going over to the banjo.

Growing like a weed. Thanks. :) She only took about 2-3 weeks to start sleeping through the night. Every now & then she will wake up @ 0300 & want to eat, but waking to eating to back to sleep is only 30 minutes so it's not bad. Got to tell ya, she's changed my entire perspective on life. It's the greatest thing in the world. :)
