Airplane part falls onto NY home's front lawn Exhaust cone falls off Delta jet headed to Tokyo, lands on lawn of NY home * On 1:53 pm EST, Friday November 6, 2009 ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (AP) -- An engine tail cone popped off a Delta airlines jet shortly after takeoff from New York's Kennedy Airport. It plummeted thousands of feet into a Long Island neighborhood before landing harmlessly on someone's lawn. FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac (SAHL'-ak) said Friday the jet doesn't need the part to fly and passengers weren't in any danger. Neither the pilots nor people on the ground noticed the mishap when it happened Thursday evening. The flight continued to its destination. Salac says Delta personnel reported the part missing after the plane landed in Tokyo. The 20-pound part measured 4-feet long and 3-feet in diameter. A resident spotted it hours later and called police. Delta says an investigation is under way. |
Thanks ACL,
I put in for NFL's and didn't get it! I thought we had 1,000 pilots too many? Scratching head... Carl |

Are you serious? My gosh, only 26 took it last time. If you really want one call the CPSC and see what they say.

Hey Nu, how long are you in NRT? I just got in last night for a 13dayer. Nothing but Saipans heheheheh <-----evil senior guy laugh. Actually not, the crap short layover.......in at 1:30a out 4:30p next afternoon.

Hey speaking of contract changes I thought I understood but didn't.
I did my new Asia commute by going PHX to LAX thinking I'd go over to NRT on the LAX flight. Silly me, I thought the new rule was that scheduling would just move me from the MSP flight to the LAX flight for the DH and I'd be in my biz seat sipping coffee with my pinkie finger out. Not so fast. Can't tell if it's a bid period 5 change or if it's just for coming home, but on the way OVER to NRT you are on your own for the early deadhead. Worked out ok as I got the last biz class seat and still sipped coffee with my pinkie finger out, but my stress level was up for a few minutes as scheduling, the gate agent and I figured out how to list me nonrev. If push came to shove, I could have sat on a FA jumpseat (cockpit was taken). Word to the wise, going over to NRT is the same gig as before.......book the jumpseat early and often. Ferd |
