Ferd...does'nt your BP 5 start in Januaray?

Ferd149 11-07-2009 06:49 PM

Yes, and my confusion. I thought it was a contract change in effect now. But, the guy who beat me to the cockpit jumpseat (another interesting story) was an A330 guy who said we are still on our own going over from a gateway vs our base.

Hey Nu, how long are you in NRT? I just got in last night for a 13dayer.

Head back to NRT tomorrow. In GUM right now as my intestinal parasites fight for the exit.

Dunno if it's really parasites, but Fly4Hire's "crud" has arrived with a thud (or a splash, as it were)...

Nu,

Wow. Eating on layovers. I can't afford it in any place that requires calculating an exchange rate to determine the lunch buffet cost more than than I've paid for a used laptop. So far I've not gotten sick on granola bars and crew meals. Those Almond Butter & Jellies can get a guy through a four day :)

Dude,

He's in Guam. The exchange rate is REALLY easy to figure out there...(they use U.S. dollars). He should be eating at The Marianas Trench...great Thai food.
Those almond butter sandwiches taste good but are only one molecule away from J.B.Weld!

I can only take a few of those PB and J's a month.

Just tried calling scheduling back via the VRU. Took me
about 5 attempts to get the system to accept my id/password until I entered it VERY deliberately. On the third attempt I thought it had worked and was patched through to a flustered gate agent boarding a flight somewhere ( really). You South guys ever have this problem? Or is it a me/iPhone problem?

Also, I just got a 2 day for tomorrow worth 10:09, where the dpa should be 10:30? ***? Does dpa only apply to reg pilots? What about a reserve picking up GS? This is bs and needs to be fixed in the next contract.

There always seems to be issues with the VRU. They are probably doing software updates. I would try it from a land line. It seems to work for me when I have that issue.

As for the DPA, yes it only applies to line holders and not reserve pilots. Yep, you are not worth as much. I am sure some will get on here and tell you that you are given 5:15 for each day if you will break the reserve guarantee based upon duty periods for the month. That means you would need to have 13.333(14) in a month to be credited for 5:15 for each of them resulting in actually making it over 70 hrs.
For the purpose of you question, no, you do not get 5:15 a day.

Boy, that agent must of been just as surprised as you!

I access the VRU via my iPhone, and don't have a problem, I guess I enter the numbers a bit slow. Then again, I know guys who program the 1-800 number, a pause, then their ID and password into their phone and it works. Maybe you're just so excited to be under the Delta work rules, your fingers are trembling.

If you're a reserve, this is the section of the contract that talks about that:

Code:

12.J: Reserve Duty Period Average

At the end of each bid period, a reserve pilot will receive the greater of:
a.    his accumulated credit earned in the bid period,
b.    his reserve guarantee, or
c.    5:15 pay, no credit for each qualifying duty period.

Note: If the value of c. exceeds the greater of a. or b. above,
the pilot will receive pay and credit for the greater of a. or b.
and pay, no credit for the difference of the value of c.
and his credit for the bid period.

This from page 12-11 of the Oct 08 contract

So, I think that end of month it calculates what you're going to get paid. So it might look like you're getting 10:09, but at the end of the month it will be figured out. Other reserve guys, is this right?
