someone just posted this on a different forum so take it for what its worth,

"Rumors during training:

1. Look for the company to approach union to allow a bid to encompass up to two years, ie.. award during advance entitlement will be good for up to two years possibly longer, but plan is to move all the pieces continously over the next five years, so it will be awhile before we see the final results.

2. Dependant on the above, could see up to 1200 positions up for bid right after SOC. followed by another large bid during the summer

3. 15 DC9s coming into Atlanta--this one might not happen

4. A group is in negotiations/familiarizations with a 100seat supplier

5. up to 15 777s to be delivered in next 2 years

6. A fleet of up to 60 MD90s

7. New basing methods(virtual) are being looked at (cost/benefit analysis)

8. New base will be opened"

This will probably be the last time we have any leverage before they stiff arm us and turn contract 2012 into POS 2015.

I like your thinking, but it had better be something monumental in return for a two year conversion window. That is forever and would basically let
the company do what they want with us all hanging in limbo.

Maybe something to the tune of "all delta flying will be performed by delta pilots, and no dci contracts will be renewed upon expiration.". That would get me on board. We can dream can't we?

I like the way you think!

You never know until you ask.

Rumors 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8 have been sort of verified to me by a 4th floor type (at least as being under consideration). Look at how many hotel rooms we rent in Portland. I don't know if there is a link, but we are shuttling a lot of guys back and forth and the Company is spending a lot of credit time getting pilots into position there.

As much as I'd love a PDX base choice, the staffing efficiency means they would require fewer ER pilots.

I can guarantee that fixing scope is not on the agenda (although holding the line has some support). I am wary for an airplane order and while we are all distracted, a little side deal gets brought in to allow more large RJ's. The Company wants to use these to trade out the 50 seaters that they are under contract to pay for.

That's my biggest reason for my C44 Rep vote. We all know how the status quo just voted on Compass. Among those running there is one Candidate that I'm confident "gets it." He has a long term perspective and who would vote against trading more jobs away for short term gains. There are others who are sympathetic to scope restoration, but when the heat got turned up they fell into the party mantra that DCI is responsible for getting their pay up, removing the cost differential and fixing Delta's scope.

IMHO that "blame Canada" plan is destined for failure. We can not depend on SkyWest and Republic to fix a problem we created - for starters they lack the power and motivation to fix our scope. They'd love nothing more than to watch ALPA DCI carriers raise their rates while Teamsters and the SkyWest Student Council undercut them for flying awards.

Virtual basing would likely reduce staffing even more than opening a new base dependent on the language in the MOU/LOA.
