Don't forget about the SAVINGS the company can have by less of a training footprint. SAVINGS can translate into Profits can translate into higher wages overall for all of us.

The thing is that our wages have taken such a hit, our efficiency has gone though the roof, and where did all of that savings go? You have not seen a better bottom line because of it.
All of that savings on us has gone towards lowering the price of a ticket, and thus lowering the expectations of the consumer. Bottom line is a consideration, but the fact is that how we price our product has to change. The interesting thing is that a 20 dollar across the board jump in prices allows the desirable wages, allows the airlines to get out of debt, and makes the industry profitable. The problem is that some joker (airline, new or, or other) will not play along and thus every airline is jumping for market share by lowering their prices to match. The consumer has learned to be more patient on waiting for airfare sales, and the airlines a little to quick to dump tickets. We need to do more than just hope our HVC's come back and pay for the service, we need to restructure the way we manage our seat stock. |

For real? We should take more concessions then, so the company can make more money, and we can get higher wages.

I know I'll get flack for this post but you will never get + or - 3000 fDL deadzoners to agree to this without addressing their lost, frozen pension benefit. In todays "retirement in your own name" environment, you all are right, it would make sense to do this for the younger group that has many years to go but the older group would be hosed 2 ways, 1) less pay, 2) very little ability to use the "time value of money."
Unless the terminated, frozen pension benefit is addressed, I just don't see this happening. Fire Away!!!:D (Just don't expect me to answer!!!:D) Denny (deadzoner who doesn't want to get into a unproductive debate, since it is water under the bridge, on the note as compensation for a terminated pension.) |

Exactly. But we also need to take a closer look at exactly how much impact pilot costs have on the bottom line of an airline (which is negligible). And then, after we do that, we need to remember how far we are below appropriate levels of compensation, and quit acting and talking as if Delta's profitability is tied to what we make.
We do add a cost, and it is a few billion a year I am guessing, but at it pertains to price per ticket it is a drop in the bucket. Our 5% (4+1%DC) bump on Jan 1 is worth about 90 million or two RJ's:D |

Heyas,
Word is that they cut Compass loose at the MEC meeting. It was NOT unanimous, and was actually quite a heated discussion. Nu |
