You're good. This is why I don't claim to be able to read legalese like so many others...

That's exactly right.

edit: I detract my previous pondering over another unnanounced LOA in the works in regards to this specific issue- though there could be in regard to conversion legnth.

We'll wait and see b/c you KNOW we won't hear anything until the handshakes have been made by Lee and friends...

You guys are correct, but also ponder this.....

We are getting our minds wrapped around SOC on or near Dec 31st. What if SOC was in the first few weeks of December?

A point to ponder....

Yep, the specific wording in the memo today seemed to indicate earlier dec SOC.

A Delta Daily just last week stated that the company is only WEEKS away from SOC. It's a very good possibility that SOC will occur before Christmas.

Are you guys sure about the verbiage?

"awards or assignments to any vacancies or surpluses posted prior to SOC will be restricted to pilots within their respective pre-merger fleets."
TWG 09-04

It does not mention when the bid closes only when the vacancies are posted.

The way I read the above - If the vacancy or surplus is posted prior to SOC - it will be limited to the pre-merger group. Very confusing and I would not bet any $ on it.

If I was a betting man, I would bet on that!

I think the key word is POSTED. I can interpret it either way. I can read that any vacancies posted prior to SOC are restricted, but I can also read that if the AWARDS are posted POST SOC then they aren't restricted. Confusing? :p

I could see it interpreted two different ways, & that means management can use either option to their advantage IMO. Kind of like the whole counting large RJs thing.

TWG 09-04

Try reading it this way:

"(awards) or (assignments to any vacancies or surpluses) posted prior to SOC will be restricted to pilots within their respective pre-merger fleets."

I see it as, the company cannot post the awards or the assignments prior to SOC that affect the whole pilot group. You should read awards or assignments are the two options.

If the TWG meant the way you were thinking, I think it would say, "Advanced Entitlements" rather than "awards/assignements". We don't call the advanced entitlement an award - it's an Advanced Entitlement.

Although I can see it two ways, I'm in agreement with you. I think that as long as the AWARDS & ASSIGNMENTS are posted AFTER SOC all aircraft/seats/bases will be open to all.

When the vacancies are posted is irrelevant. Once again JMO. I'm just a line grunt, & far from management. :p
