I agree. I think we also have to realize there are things we're not going to hear about. A possible exception to taking back some of our flying may be Republic. With all that's going on there I hope they can find a loophole to get out of a contract. The big question> Would the company want to or are they somehow involved or cheering RAH from the sidelines?

Exactly, and that is why burning the house down serves no one. I think what most people are looking for is communication.
Also, now is the time we need to start formulating what is and is not going to be in the C2012 opener. Two years is a good place to start. The CLUCKING will continue until Scope Protection/Restoration is addressed. |

Yeah it's been awhile....
Why can't he show up to the lounges like he did for the DCI pilots? I understand that pilots should get involved or be at meetings, but everyone can't attend all the time. Personally I think it would go a LONG way if the MEC chairman were to hangout in the Delta pilot lounges and squash rumor or answer questions! I think the moustache (prater) should show up there too... We are after all his biggest constituency... he OWES it to us... he supposedly works FOR us... ahhh who am I kidding? |

That is the date and time that this AE closes. I am sure that is what you mean by clarification.

Most of us are just wanting to know IF there is a battle plan.
I met LM at the hotel bar while on an AMS layover last year. When he found out that I was a new hire he actually sat down and talked to me for a while. At that time, the NW merger was the hot topic and was discussed at some length (with me and the other crews that were present). Unfortunately I was still pretty new to this game and not really up to speed on the whole scope battle, so I really didn't have the right questions to ask. Opportunity missed! He did reveal that the MEC has a long term game plan to recapture the PAY that had been lost over that last number of years. He indicated that he felt ours was the only major MEC to have such a strategic plan in place. There are so many questions that I would ask him now - oh well, maybe next time  He did, however, buy all the beers that night (there were probably three full crews of pilots and a few FA's as well). Now there's a use of our dues that I can get behind :D |
Does ALPA National and DALPA understand the Midwest deal ?
I mean... how much profit does Delta make on the connect flying done by Republic? If the answer is not alot... ...why not have Republic be a separate national airline (with no scope limits) feeding the Delta system and responsible for their own fuel costs. The Midwest code-share deal with Delta (only one-way) is the only one like it in the industry. Does it limit the "New Midwest" to serving Delta. Why not have Republic pay Delta a fee for all passengers that connect into the Delta system and Republic keeps all the money on direct flights. ALPA National needs to understand this deal because it could be undermining our profession.... it doesn't even make the fastread!!! |

There is a lot of anger out there. Most of it can be cured with effective, timely and concise communication from all levels of the elected and appointed representation.
Half of the issue may just be communication, and interpretation. When both of those are lacking, things run a muck. I am sure the support for the current administration would change in a heart beat if they came out saying they were for scope restoration, and no further decay. Problem is there are those pesky actions too..... Once you really know where people stand then the better you can dialogue. |
The thing about LM, is that I have heard LOTS of people say that they heard him say he dosen't give a hoot about scope, but no one say that they have heard him say it's important. He should be required to state his position.
While there may be an overall plan, that includes pay, retirement, benefits, and work-rules; hearing that scope is part of the plan is important for the membership. If we don't force LM and DALPA to state their positions, if and when they screws us, they can always say, "I never said that." New K Now |
