Heyas,

ACL touched on this, but it bears repeating: there is a TREMENDOUS amount of inertia and "empire building" inside ALPA committees. Elected reps come and go, but some of these guys are entrenched, and will spin the party line because they owe the guy that put them in their cush FPL desk job. ALOT of these guys have FAR more impact on the daily life on the average line dog than any 3 elected reps....like scheduling, computer bidding, and let's not forget the NC.

Some guys do such good for their groups that they deserve everything they get and more (like safety, and some contract admins). Others are there simply for political reasons and/or working themselves up the ALPA gravytrain and are dug in tighter than an Alabama tick.

It was hard enough to get rid of these guys at NWA. At DAL, the policy manual gives MUCH more latitude to the MEC Chair, making these guys almost impossible to get rid of by the reps.

I like the way Bar thinks.

Nu

Anyone know why hardly anybody is bidding the LAX7ERB?

All the people going to it probably have displacement bids in. They do not show up on the AE count.

He's been to every LEC that invited him for a local meeting this year, and several of them twice. He'll be at the next 44 meeting I'm told.

Yeah it's been awhile....
Why can't he show up to the lounges like he did for the DCI pilots? I understand that pilots should get involved or be at meetings, but everyone can't attend all the time.
Personally I think it would go a LONG way if the MEC chairman were to hangout in the Delta pilot lounges and squash rumor or answer questions!

Do you guys understand why Delta would give Republic the keys to Midwest and Frontier without a fight?

Delta could use A320 leases right?

Delta doesn't want another low cost national airline right?

Why is it worth $200+ million to block AirTran and not worth $31 million to block Republic from becoming the next national airline like Airtran?

Only time will tell if your theory is correct. If it does come true, then you can come back & say 'I told you so.' Until then, it's just another conspiracy theory. ;)

Hey ACL,

Just to be clear, are you saying that on the AE section of I-Crew when you look at the number of pilots senior to you who have a standing bid it will only show AE bids and not Displacements? If this is correct, is there any way to see pilots senior to you with a displacement bid in?

Not that I am aware of. I guess you could call up crew resources and ask them for a spot count.

When does the AE close out? I don't have computer access (outside of my phone) right now and need to update my displacement prefs.
