It is a great metaphor. Like the Indians our profession has been taken from us and for the most part, we agreed to the treaties.

Like the Indians we are being systematically rounded up and placed on small reservations where we can cause no trouble. When we do rise up, peyote is smoked and people calm down without actually accomplishing change.

Like the Indians, if we do not unite and fight for unity, we're toast.

We'll be small irrelevant groups, isolated, while non union pilots and foreigners perform most of the work for the Federal minimum wage.

Junglebus drum, good drum, beat truth. Fencepost keeps getting moved on to our land. Our buffalo used to run entire plains. We had no fence to keep us from our land.

Medicine Man Bucking Bar say Fence no good. Treaty with White Man is Buffalo Crap, White Man no keep promises. Only way to be strong is to unite the tribes and take back the planes, I mean, plains. :D

That's freaking hilarious Bar and spot on all at the same time.

There is a lot of anger out there. Most of it can be cured with effective, timely and concise communication from all levels of the elected and appointed representation.

Half of the issue may just be communication, and interpretation. When both of those are lacking, things run a muck.
I am sure the support for the current administration would change in a heart beat if they came out saying they were for scope restoration, and no further decay.
Problem is there are those pesky actions too.....

When you're feeling especially angry take a look at what's happening around the industry. I know I'm grateful to be where I am. I've got a buddy at United preparing for furlough after 8 years with the company. Are there things to be fixed here? Sure, but we've just been through one of the worst times in aviation history, a merger of historic proportions, we're in the middle of a recession, and we're all still afloat.

My priorities for the next contract: pay, pay, pay, qol, scope. Freezing the number of outsourced jets now is realistic and a must. Taking back flying in the middle of a contract? Why would management agree to change something they've worked so hard to attain without a huge cost to us? That's going to take major effort in 2012.

Exactly, and that is why burning the house down serves no one. I think what most people are looking for is communication.

Also, now is the time we need to start formulating what is and is not going to be in the C2012 opener. Two years is a good place to start.

I agree. I think we also have to realize there are things we're not going to hear about. A possible exception to taking back some of our flying may be Republic. With all that's going on there I hope they can find a loophole to get out of a contract. The big question> Would the company want to or are they somehow involved or cheering RAH from the sidelines?
