How about this: NO Communication = NO Leadership.
Once you really know where people stand then the better you can dialogue. |
Fact is that you do not want to give away your position, but you must state that concerns are heard, and we the MEC agree with those concerns. It does not need to be spun, but it needs to be communicated.
Simple: Jobs=security=more flying=better scope=bigger barging position=bigger slice of the pie come contract time=better QOL, work rules, pay and scope. Three legs to a bar stool is a good point. |
I don't think you have to give away your position. But, when rumors are flying around that you chastised AA pilots for holding the line on scope, you need to say something. Because rumors like that make me want to pay my dues money to APA. :D

OK I'll buy that but these guys have done a decent job on everything from leading us through BK, fending off US Air, to the merger, so far in my opinion. Why the sudden lack of trust and belief in every internet rumor? How many companies have guys as junior as we do still on their seniority list? With many of the posts here you'd think we were furloughing left and right and the sky was falling.
I'm with you and you will see that I have been fairly quiet on the scope discussions. I am patient but always guarded. I'm a North guy. :) |

I agree, to an extent. I would like to see us capture the 70 and above market. I realize that will take a lot, and may not happen in the near term, but it needs to be a goal.
Like I have stated, communicate your desires and it will put many at bay as long as they concede with the majority of the rank and file. I would love to the this MEC's big picture. They have done many things so very well, that the total lack of communication on scope just does not add up. I personally think that there is a big plan, but the fact is that even if this is true the frustrated ones will try to vote the big thinkers out of office. If it is the case communicate it and once again the group is unified. If it is not the case, it needs to become the case. |
If something isn't communicated well then you get people speculating and running with ideas.
Lack of communication is one of this MEC's biggest problems.... AH HEM BUZZ. |
TPG/NWA don't spend $450 million to block AirTran, write-off over $400 million in losses and then give the keys to a large regional airline for $31 million.
Just write-off the last 31 million (6.8%) and be done with it. The reason Independence Air failed was because they lost to much money building market share. Republic is being handed the MKE market with 25 years worth of loyal customers, a marketing department, reservations system, gates, slots into LGA-DCA, ... Why help Republic become a national airline? guess: 1. to make a low cost competitor for AirTran that feeds the Delta system. 2. build a new regional feeder system to get around the 76 seat scope language |
I have a question that might have been covered a few pages ago. Has anyone noticed that the ALV went down for sept on the 88 in nyc and there are less lines and yet more openings on this AE than any other base and the reserve levels for Sept are all in the blue?? So when do we start flying out of those us air gates exactly??
