If we don't vent here, where? Our wives don't want to hear it.

Just playing devil's advocate here. I'm onboard with your intent.
You are 100% correct. I had a line check a few weeks ago and the LCA (a "good guy", BTW) made a point of describing the way it's now supposed to be done. The checklist isn't done until you've been cleared to push and, after the checklist is complete, you communicate the cleared to push to the tug driver.

So now if you're doing it according to the procedure, the latency will be near zero, but D-0 will suffer.

I'm concerned though about the gate agents and ramp personnel. These folks can bust their butts to get the flight out on time, but due to congestion on the ramp pushback will be delayed...not the fault of the agents or rampers.

Was thinking the custom mold ear piece would be more comfortable then those David Clark's, & provide more hearing protection then the Telex 750.

I'm open to suggestions, and looking for a headset that I can also use on the B737/M88/B717 since I'll likely end up on one of those fleets. Thanks.
I've used the ear mold type headset for over 20 on 9, 88, 727, 1011 & 75/76. Works great. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the reply. I've read some reviews, & there were some complaints about the gain setting. Have you had issues with that?

My headset has no volume/gain control and my audio panel settings (10-11 o'clock) are usually lower than most others but no problem with getting what I need.

Telex 850 worked great on the 737 except for 2-3 aircraft that for some reason caused a squealing feedback. Pros: doesn't need batteries, cheaper than most ANR's

Cons: I found myself constantly pulling the left earcup off so I could hear the CA. So now ill have skin cancer on my right, and be deaf in my left ear :-)

When were you hired? Yikes I wasn't really worried about being displaced until now.
