We have a senior guy in my category that always puts his weekday caribbean turns on the swap board just after bids come out. They are gone within minutes. It is great for the occasional junior guy but I would be frustrated as a senior guy since it is one of the top trips.

But it's always been that way... Don't expect change soon.

I second your motion.

Perhaps a "waiting period" of one day from the time it's posted to the time it's rewarded? At which point it's awarded to the senior claimant.

It's a valuable option...just abused.

We also hold options for 30 more 737's. the fleet plan has us parking 85 757's in that period. There will be some A320's parked in Addition to the 757's however the net gain in airframes should be around 130 hulls. That number includes the 90's not yet in service.
Fair enough. My problem here though, is well documented. All of the "replacement" aircraft you mention, and none of the "growth" aircraft you mentioned are upguaged airframes from the 757. I know, that is a different discussion for a different thread. But.... at my seniority, I do not see much upside potential with what you are describing. I see even more stagnation for the top 50% of the list.

When they have a widget painted on the tail, let's talk. Until then, it is... well... talk. (717s excepted... but oh yeah.. THEY ARE THE SMALLEST THING IN THE INVENTORY)

Interesting question. Why do you care? Just asking.

I think it worthwhile to think about the direction that we have gone since signing the contract to answer it though. Fewer RJs. That slop has to be taken up somewhere. 88-717s coming aboard. Problem solved.

The rest will be easy enough to figure out too. Look at what is going away, and what is replacing it. Then figure a small percentage of that small "growth" number will be actual growth. I buy sailing's argument, but I really don't see that much true growth. It will keep up with inflation if you will, but that is about it.

1 point for each of you. We still have a really big anchor in the form of debt. If that is NOT a consideration for anemic growth, then there should be a WB order to reflect that. I don't see much on the horizon. 10 330s every 15 years and a 777 every 5 does not equate to much growth. Again, if it were an investment that were growing like that, I would pull my money.

And there are some on the other forum that want an out of base swap with friends... can you imagine the abrogation THERE?
