If it was test flown in the 1950's, it wasn't me.

Like I said, I could be wrong, I have to check with him. Let you know.

And I heard you were eternal. I guess the rumors have been getting out of hand.

It was a 542,000 lb Mach 3 bomber. Absolutely incredible.

The Navy had some pretty crazy fast stuff at that time as well, IIRC.

I know it didn't enter service. A few years ago I talked with my father about some of the planes he test flew for the Navy. One I know for sure, he did the checkout of the Navy's version of the Connie. I could swear he mentioned something that looked like this one. I'll send him a picture and ask him.

How about I took the 1950's off so I could save myself for the DC-9....

Two were built for the Air Force by North American with one still on display at the AF Museum. The other one was in a photo shoot w/ other planes (3-5 fighters I think) when I believe the wake from the B70 caught a F-104 and the two planes collided, destroying both. Program cancelled shortly after.

Okay, I was wrong, he didn't fly something similar but I will try and post pictures of some of the airplanes he did fly. Here is the first shot posting a pic in awhile. The F7F

Thanks Denny .. Cool Stuff ... today flight test folks are lucky to ever see a new program.

Here's the story on the XB-70

The aircraft was redundant by the time it flew. It's role was replaced by the MRV ICBM's and performance had already been leapfrogged by the A-12 / SR-71. None the less, a lot of the structures technology was later used in components of the aircraft we fly today.
