I don't feel bad for them, but personally I think they were fully prepared to watch it happen. This summer is very similar to the summer of 2010. Lots of GS and IA calls, lots of negative reserve coverage, and lots of open time.

What a bunch of garbage.
That's burned me before too, but it's the way the RUO works. Sorry man. Hopefully with the hiring you'll be off reserve soon.

Anyone have some bullet points from the C44 meeting this morning?

Unfortunately as long as OPs is not cancelling flights due to lack of pilots, the company will continue to figure they are correctly manned. GS are still cheaper then another pilot on the list.

Guys, look at the bright side. Study a little history and you will know that all big hiring booms are preceded by airline systems beginning to fall apart from lack of crews. Sure, it's not happening on our schedule, but it is happening. Boom times ahead.

Excellent news. The less that come in above us '10 hires the better. Would rather see names enter the list after me. Oh yeah first month in quite a few where I didn't get a new seniority number.

You were a victim of our Airborne Reserve System (ARS). Since it costs the same, and is quicker than shortcall, it is the best solution. Our reroute section of the contract is on the failboat. Any idea what SWA guys get for reroute compensation? I do.

It also, in effect, takes seniority out of the bidding process.

Our "everybody manning" compensation system with no premium pay or penalty to the company is a contract section we need to work on. It's one of those things that I never really thought of until this last month because we have always been overstaffed since I have been here. New bid strategy in summer will be to award latest shows with earliest finishes and least TAFB to minimize the reroutes.

Which is why we're hiring?
